why be local? As small business owners, we understand how hard it is to stand out in a crowd. This publication was created with the idea that there is power in numbers. If we work together as small, local businesses, we can all afford a high-quality, alternative advertising option that is both created and distributed by local businesses. Be Local/Shop Local is all about promoting and supporting locally-owned, independent businesses. It’s about making your hard-earned money go further, fueling the local economy, and helping to preserve the unique character of our community.
Make a difference. Shop local.

uto Concepts has been locally owned and operated in Helena for ten years. Owners Todd and Sheri Sullivan are very proud of how their business has evolved. Their state-of-the-art, 10,000-square-foot facility located at 3242 Centennial Drive off Highway 12 East of town is large enough to service and work on large vehicles like tractors, boats and semis. As far as what they can do for you ... you name it. Auto Concepts can create and apply custom graphics, magnetic signs, realtor signs, and banners. In fact, their specialty is in custom graphics. The staff devotes a tremendous amount of time illustrating, designing and printing graphics in-house for custom applications. They can also install specialty items like cruise control, remote starts, alarms, window tinting, electronics, custom exhaust, toolboxes, seat covers, car stereos, running boards, lift kits, toppers, winches, window tinting, bug guards, grill guards and spray-on bed liners. Then there are the auto detailing services and paint chip repair options and much more! Todd has been customizing vehicles for over 20 years and has won many national awards for his work. rocky Mountain credit union
capital sports & Western
kmtx radio
Rocky Mountain Credit Union has some good news for you. It can be summed up in three words: CUT, YOUR, DEBT.
Helenans are eager to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. With sunny skies and longer days on the horizon, there is no better time to play outside! At Capital Sports & Western, we are freshly stocked for summer activities.
Local online shopping has arrived in Helena! KMTX has launched the new shopping feature, the Helena Marketplace, at www.kmtxradio.com. The site combines the convenience of online shopping with the desire to buy locally. Shoppers save at least 30 percent.
Cut your debt
They understand times remain tight for many of us. What if they could reduce your car or truck payments? Plus, with the cost of gas rising, we all could use a little breathing room in our budgets. The people at Rocky Mountain are dedicated to helping you find that breathing room. Bring them your truck, boat, or RV loan from another financial institution and they’ll reduce your rate by 3% or more*. They have lots of options, too. Maybe it’s refinancing your home or transferring some high-interest balances from your credit cards to their low-interest VISA. Rocky Mountain will search for ways to reduce your payments so you can ultimately cut your debit. How is this possible? In the middle of our current economic situation, Rocky Mountain has experienced growth: growth in their members, growth in their deposits, and growth in their loans. They are healthy and strong. More and more people are coming to Rocky Mountain Credit Union to discover this strength. And they have helped these new members save hundreds of dollars over the life of their loans. Go see them, log on at www.rmcu.net, or give them a call at 449-2680. They’ll be your strength and will help you CUT YOUR DEBT today. *No rate lower than 3.50%APR. Based on credit approval. Equal housing lender.

If your adventure begins on our local trails system, we can outfit you with the right gear, whether on foot or bike. We have a variety of trail shoes and light hikers to keep your feet happy on the mountain. Our bike selection is in full force with mountain and road bikes from Raleigh and Diamondback. To be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws your way, check out our new activewear that will be sure to keep you comfortable. If water is more your forte, check out the new colors and models of kayaks that just arrived. We are fully stocked in rafts and river accessories – just in time to plan those Smith River trips! With creek fishing opening this month, be sure your tackle box is stocked ahead of time. We also have a great supply of Gulp! in stock for walleys that will start hitting this month. For those who need “the little things” we’ve got you covered. Socks, maps, hydration packs, water bottles, flash lights, knives, bear spray ... it can all be found at Capital Sports. No matter how you enjoy the great outdoors, it is time to get outside! Stop in and visit your local sporting goods store, and let us help you plan your next adventure!
Helena Marketplace: Shop local online Here’s how it works – visit www.kmtxradio.com, click the Helena Marketplace button and start shopping! The businesses are quite varied: automotive services, children’s clothing, dining, entertainment, hotels, home interiors, jewelry, massage, opticians and more. See full descriptions and photos, or see the real thing at the local business, then save at least 30 percent on the Helena Marketplace. No need to shop out of town – the Helena Marketplace is the perfect destination for bargains, shopping via computer, and buying locally. The win-win is now the win-win-win. Consumers win with savings. Businesses win with an online shopping outlet. KMTX wins by uniting consumers and businesses with advertising and commerce. What makes a good toy? If you were to evaluate toys as tools that children use to learn with in the same way, you’d choose your own work tools. These are some of the qualities to look for: Is it safe? Like a well-made tool, a good toy will have no sharp edges, will be durable and well finished. Toys for children under the age of three should not have small parts that may come loose and should be sturdy enough to last over time. Is it age appropriate? A child’s developmental stage will determine the types of toys that will enhance learning Does it engage? A good toy is “open ended” - that is, it will invite the child to imagine, explore, and create - not just watch it run. Does it expand the child? A good toy benefits by introducing and reinforcing age specific skills. A great toy goes beyond that to grow with the child, moving from one developmental stage to the next. Does it add variety? Children need many different types of play experiences to become well rounded individuals. Puzzles, blocks, toys that encourage gross motor skills, science experiments, dress up, doll houses, role play, art supplies, books ... all should be part of a good toy selection. Your local specialty toy stores have carefully-chosen toys to promote healthy play, and staff that is willing and able to help you pick out the next fun and fantastic playthings for the little ones in your life!

MURRY’S TAKEOUT
Spring Quinoa Salad Recipe from Murry Considered by the Incas as the “Mother of all Grains”, quinoa (“keen-wah”) is a complete protein that is gluten-free and easy to digest. Quinoa comes in red and brown varieties and has a nutty taste. When preparing quinoa, it is important to wash it several times if it’s not pre-washed. Quinoa can take the place of rice, couscous, or be mixed into a salad. Dressing 3 T. Olive Oil 3 T. Fresh Lemon Juice 2 T. Garlic, minced 1 t. Ground Fennel Seeds 1 t. Dried Oregano ¼ t. Sea Salt ¼ t. Fresh Ground Pepper
Rinse the quinoa under running water. Heat med-high saucepan and add quinoa to toast for 3-4 min or until the quinoa turns golden. Add water, cover, and bring to a boil. Then lower the heat and simmer for 15 min. Place the next seven ingredients into a large bowl and toss. Whisk the dressing together, set aside. Once the quinoa is cooked, fluff with a fork and add to large bowl and drizzle the dressing over the salad, toss lightly to mix and chill it for a 1-hour.
