Community Ambassadors gathered at the KC Chamber Board Room for the first of many project update meetings.

EA Available for Public Review & Comment The final public hearing for the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) document was held on the evening of September 24 at the Ambassador Building at the Kansas City International Airport campus.

The 30-day comment period on the draft EA concluded on October 2. The Kansas City Aviation Department and its consultant, Landrum & Brown are now in the process of reviewing all comments and addressing as appropriate. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval of the EA is required before construction can start and before project design can advance beyond the conceptual phase.

New Terminal Open House Events The Project Team hosted seven Open Houses across Kansas City and in Johnson County in September. Materials explained the design process and how it will incorporate sustainability and enhance the passenger experience. Team members were also available to answer questions about the Environmental Assessment, Community Benefits and teaming opportunities. Nearly 300 Kansas City residents attended the meetings.

Small business owners celebrate the completion of the six-month program with a graduation ceremony.

Twenty-Nine Small Business Owners Complete Inaugural Kansas City Strategic Partnership Program On September 11, the first class of the KC Strategic Partnership Program celebrated completion of the six-month program with a graduation luncheon at MorningStar’s Youth & Family Life Center. The next session of the KC Strategic Partnership Program will begin on Thursday, October 25 at the MorningStar Youth & Family Life Center. The KC SPP is one of several programs the Edgemoor Team has underway to help grow and support small businesses. Other programs include Pay Without Delay and the low-interest loan program being offered through a partnership with Lead Bank.

Lockton Companies Selected as Insurance Broker for New Terminal

Clark | Weitz | Clarkson has awarded the contract for insurance placement and administrative services on the KCI New Terminal project to local insurance powerhouse, Lockton Companies. Founded in Kansas City in 1966, Lockton Companies has a longstanding local presence and deep roots in the community. Construction and design are the company’s largest industry and accounts for nearly a quarter of its revenue.
