Dr. William Wainwright's 5 Favorite Things

The new President of Southeastern Louisiana University, Dr. William Wainwright, is a native of Broussard, Louisiana. He and his wife, Misty, are the proud parents of Zachary (21) and Ella Grace (18). He and his family have resided on the Northshore for the past 25 years. Aside from dedicating each day to ensuring Southeastern Louisiana University thrives, here are Dr. Wainwright’s 5 Favorite Things:

1. Fishing:

Dr. Wainwright spent his childhood fishing and water skiing in the Atchafalaya Basin. Today, he enjoys freshwater and saltwater fishing with his family. His favorite place to fish is the Rigolets.

2. Family Vacation:

Being with his wife and children on vacation is special for many reasons. Some of his favorite vacations involve traveling abroad and being close to the water.

3. Hiking:

Health and fitness are important to the family and hiking combines both vacation and exercise. Favorite hiking trails include the Smoky Mountains and Sedona, Arizona.

4. Cooking:

Taught by his Cajun grandmother, specialties include shrimp etouffee, crawfish bisque, chicken and sausage gumbo, and deviled eggs!

5. Attending Arts and Athletics Events:

Having a son engaged in athletics and a daughter in the arts, his family has attended MANY Southeastern athletic games and arts performances at various venues.
