Fall is
the most beautiful season for me. The smells, colors, clothes, and food are all things I enjoy about the fall season. In September, Edge celebrated its fourth birthday. The staff photos were taken from our “cake smash” party. Our team celebrated with wine, good music, and of course cake. In fact, we’ve made it a tradition to celebrate with each publication in the books.

While fall colors, pumpkins, and Halloween candy are all surfacing, one bold color stands out this month: PINK. This is Edge’s Pink issue in recognition of breast cancer awareness month. Edge was honored to attend and cover this year’s EXPOSED 8th Annual Benefit hosted by Project Pink’d. The event raises critical dollars to help support, encourage, and empower breast cancer
survivors. This year, Project Pink’d raised a record $250,000. It’s just one example of the many ways the people of Omaha open their kind hearts to others and offer helping hands. It’s what makes me proud to be part of such a caring community and gives us all lots to celebrate this fall. Carole Sprunk, Owner/Publisher

ne of the best feelings is walking into a home and knowing immediately it’s the floorplan and style that you want. That happened to Gordon and Jane Parry when they walked into a Street of Dreams home in Omaha in 1993 that had been built by local contractor Jerry Palmer. A job change took them to Atlanta, but when they moved back to Omaha five years later, they knew they wanted Palmer to build for them again and purchased two adjacent lots in Champions Run for

their 6,700-sq. ft. home. When designing their new home, the Parry’s had three components they wanted to incorporate. The first was an all-brick exterior styled after a home in Atlanta. After searching through samples at a brick yard in Omaha, Jane finally found the Georgia-made brick in a back room. A craftsman style brick that used a wood mold, creating a solid form without the typical holes found in traditional brick. Once she found it, they decided to use it on the entire house to eliminate the need for exterior paint and to make it more energy efficient. The second component the couple incorporated was the floor plan from another home in Atlanta. After touring it while still under construction, Gordon

drew the floor plan on a piece of paper. Its southern style had rooms that were more confined, so the Parry’s asked their builder to open it up. But they included a number of other aspects of that Atlanta home, including larger base boards, lots of crown molding, and a formal living and dining room. The third requirement for their home was that it include a stone patio rather than a deck. The secluded courtyard surrounded by lush landscaping and a privacy wall in matching brick has been maintenance free for 19 years. And with the way the house is positioned on the double lot, the patio is completely shaded during the warmest times of the day. In addition to the patio, the sun room off the spacious kitchen and hearth room is one of the Parry’s favorite places in the home. Particularly since it overlooks the side yard, which is the second lot that is part of the property. “The neighbor’s called it ‘Parry’s Park’ because all of the kids played in our yard, and I could watch them while cooking dinner or washing dishes at the sink,” Jane said. Now that their kids are in college, the Parry’s are ready to downsize and let another family enjoy the home and all it has to offer. With four large bedrooms and a fifth non-conforming bedroom in the finished basement, there is plenty of space. The home also features four fireplaces, a music room, workout room, craft room, home theater, full four-car garage, and ample cabinet storage. One of the things the Parry’s appreciate most about the home is the quality and thought that their builder put into it. “Jerry would leave us notes on the walls during construction with suggestions,” Gordon said. “And he had great ideas for ways to increase ceiling height, bring in natural light, or build

in features such as window seats in the bedrooms and a cedar closet in the basement.” Recently, Jane worked with designer Kris Patton, ASID, from Interiors Joan & Associates to update the home, but still keep it within its transitional style. They refreshed all the interior paint, window treatments, rugs, and some of the furniture. But the Parry’s believe that it’s necessary to spend a little money every year in order to keep a house current. Over the years they have added a mud room, finished additional parts of the basement, and kept up with repairs. The result is a home they are proud of that has stood the test of time. “We tried to invest in the areas of the home that people will value long term,” Gordon said. “This house was thoughtfully designed and a great collaboration with a quality builder. After 19 years, it looks and feels like a brand-new home.” For more information or to schedule a showing, contact Cindy Maher with CBS Home Tag Team Real Estate, 402-6997272, Cindy.Maher@CBSHome.com. 18 |

Project Pink’d brings the community together to support breast cancer survivors

ven though the month of October celebrates Halloween and the fall colors of orange, gold and brown, pink is the prominent color associated with breast cancer awareness month. Seven years ago, that shade of pink became a little brighter and bolder when Cynthia Sturgeon decided to form an organization to help fill a need within the community for breast cancer survivors called Project Pink’d.

A breast cancer survivor at the age of 40, Cynthia felt there were gaps in the types of services provided in the community. “In my own journey, survivorship was harder than going through treatment,” she said. As she met more survivors and they shared their stories, she realized commonalities existed—you aren’t the same person after surviving breast cancer as you were before. “Often the largest battle is when you’re done with treatment,” Cynthia explained. “It becomes about defining a new normal, redefining your physical, emotional, and spiritual health.” Another commonality Cynthia discovered was how many people wanted to help with her mission. In an effort to raise funds, she decided to create a calendar with photos of survivors, which they did for several years. But as the needs of survivors grew, and after researching the number of diagnosed women just in Nebraska and Western Iowa, Cynthia realized they needed to incorporate as a non-profit. “No other organization was focused on survivorship, and we knew how important it was to meet that need on a local level, including keeping all funds raised in our local communities,” she explained. Because thriving is different for everyone, Project Pink’d offers a number of programs. Approximately 60% of the organization’s funds go toward its Pink’d Helping Hand program, which offers financial assistance for basic foundational needs, such as housing payments, utilities, groceries, gas or child care. The Pink’d Beauty program helps survivors feel and look “normal” again by providing wigs, caps, scarves, radiation skin care and lymphedema products during and after treatments.

Breast cancer survivor and Project Pink’d volunteer Julie Pabian
Last summer the organization launched its Healing Hearts survival kit program. Developed for breast cancer survivors by Project Pink’d survivors, their complimentary chemotherapy, radiation and surgical kits include everything to help make a survivor a little more comfortable during their treatment and brighten their day. Kits are delivered by volunteers to hospitals, oncology, surgical and radiation centers throughout NE and Western IA. The third component offered is the Pink’d Renewal program to help survivors navigate life in its new form post-treatment. Project Pink’d offers a number of health and wellness workshops and classes, all free to breast cancer survivors, including nutrition/ cooking classes, yoga, workshops on managing lymphedema, and its Care to Share Thanksgiving program. Because holidays are stressful, Project Pink’d provides survivors with an afternoon of survivorship, inspirational stories and a fully catered Thanksgiving meal to share with their families so they can celebrate without having to worry about the cooking. As an extension of its Renewal program, the organization hosts a Dare to Thrive Renewal Retreat. Up to 20 women are accepted annually who are at least one year post-diagnosis. The free, five-month program focuses on helping survivors find their new purpose and live their best life, supporting one another, and how to best help others going forward. the women “Thrivers” are celebrated at the annual Project Pink’d benefit. This year’s EXPOSED 8th Annual Benefit, which was held in August, included more than 650 guests and raised more than $250,000—a record for the organization. The outpouring of support for survivors was nothing short of overwhelming, with the caring culture of Project Pink’d evident in everything the volunteer-run organization does. Breast cancer survivor Lora Iossi attended her first Project Pink’d benefit two years ago and said the experience was both inspiring and healing. “This year’s benefit was bittersweet. It was exactly what I needed as I got ready to battle breast cancer a second time. I’ve met so many Thrivers over the past year and am thankful for all that Project Pink’d does in our community to help those who are impacted by breast cancer.” Many of the women that Project Pink’d helps—approximately 1,000 last year alone—end up volunteering in some form to help spread the word within the community that it’s programs exist. Julie Pabian, another two-time breast cancer survivor, volunteers on the organization’s grant committee, and said Project Pink’d gave her a purpose. “It provided me with a platform to help educate others—female and male survivors—so that they don’t have to make decisions about whether or not to pay bills or pay for their treatment.” In addition to the dedicated volunteers who work with Project Pink’d, a number of organizations partner with them to ensure a full range of needs are being met for survivors and serve as an extension of their programming. These include Wings of Hope for counseling, Methodist’s Inner Beauty and the Visiting Nurses Association, allowing Pink’d services to reach those in rural communities. Donations are crucial to keep the mission going, and spreading the word that Project Pink’d is a resource for survivors is at the heart of the organization. Cynthia wants to continue to touch as many survivors’ lives as possible and prefers to measure success by the number of people they’ve touched, rather than measure it in dollars. “Serving survivors is at the forefront of what we do,” she said. Creating a fundraiser at your business or organization that supports Project Pink’d is a great way to help not only raise money but to spread awareness that individuals with breast cancer have access to their services. Cynthia added, “As long as our survivors need us, we will be here.”

magine witnessing a car accident that results in injuries to those involved. Are you hesitant to stop because you don’t feel you have the firstaid training that may be required to help and instead call 9-1-1? This is just the type of situation that the experts at 88 Tactical want to help every citizen prepare for so they have the confidence to step in when needed. Even if it’s something as simple as keeping a first-aid kit in your car—you may not have the training to use it in a life-saving situation, but it may end up being just the thing someone else needs in order to save a life at the scene of the accident. As an elite training organization, 88 Tactical specializes in helping individuals, families, emergency service workers, and military personnel have the confidence and skills to respond in any crisis or emergency situation. The number “88” is Nebraska police code for “situation secure,” which is the cornerstone of 88 Tactical’s mission. It was used as part of owner Shea Degan’s first company, Signal 88—a security franchise. While operating Signal 88, he identified a need to provide law enforce-
ment, military, and the civilian community with diversified, tactical instruction that would keep their “situation secure” in the face of a changing and uncertain future. Shea channeled this demand into a new venture, branching off from Signal 88 and once again referencing the police code in the name of the new company, calling it 88 Tactical. As the business grew, Shea recruited his longtime friend Trevor Thrasher, a tenured law enforcement officer and combat veteran Army Green Beret. In 2012, David

Henson joined the partnership to fulfill the growing responsibilities in logistics, finance, and administration. 88 Tactical’s first location is an outdoor training facility on a 160-acre property in Tekamah, NE. It includes shooting ranges that span from 35425 yards and survival skills terrain, as well as a lodge, sleeping quarters, and an underground bunker that can accommodate up to 10 people. With the demand for additional courses growing, the partners decided to build a facility in Omaha, and in July 2016 opened the 88 Tactical Range & Readiness Center off the I-80 Gretna exit in Omaha. “This type of facility had never been done before, and it evolved over time,” Shea explained. What started out as a non-live fire range, turned into multiple live-fire ranges, an outdoor rappelling tower, classrooms, a 3,000 square-foot simulation room, a country club style bar and dining room, a café and retail shop. One of the biggest misconceptions about the new facility is that it’s only for law enforcement and military personnel, when in fact, it’s primarily for the public. People don’t need to have any prior training before using the shooting range or taking any of the classes offered. “Our staff and instructors are some of O C TO B E R 2 0 1 7

All instructors are experts in their fields, and in fact much of the curriculum taught at 88 Tactical is used by law enforcement both nationally and internationally, such as within the New York Police Department and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as well as federal agencies. The indoor shooting ranges are open to the public, and they do have both handguns and rifles available to rent if you don’t have your own. Memberships are also available at different levels, which have exclusive offers and privileges. The Patriot Club membership has discounts on classes, firearms, and merchandise, as well as advance shooting range reservation. The Founders Club membership offers even larger discounts, private lane reservations, and access to the Founders Club private bar and dining room with premium liquor, craft beers and select wines. It’s truly a place for everyone in the community. Dave added, “We believe in helping your neighbor; that’s the Nebraska way. Everyone should be well trained so that we can help one another to be stronger individuals, stronger families, and a stronger community.”

his first restaurant; The Railcar, a friendly and cozy eatery that offers made-fromscratch comfort food and craft cocktails. On the heels of Railcar’s success, and always thinking about new restaurant concepts and dining experiences, Clarke opened Timber in early 2017 to rave reviews and happy, well-fed diners. The concept for Timber was one that smoldered within Clarke for a bit before becoming reality. “I wanted a wood-fire restaurant for a long time. I like the show, smell, and feel of fire.” Clarke said the oven in Timber’s kitchen is a hybrid grill oven that has to have wood to operate; it will not function without it. The grill itself is made of wood and heats up to 900 degrees, which Clarke said creates a nice sear. The kitchen is an open concept, which puts on a great show. “I want to have fun with Midwest cuisine.” The name Timber is directly related to the wood used in Clarke’s food. Diners will instantly feel welcome upon entering Timber with its unique charm as metal
meets wood and local art hangs on the walls. The wood-burning aromas will tantalize the palate in this comfortable, yet chic and sophisticated atmosphere. Diners will enjoy all of the special touches at Timber such as the in-house, made-from-scratch foods including the freshly baked sourdough bread service with herbed California olive oil and/or locally whipped butter. The menu is made up mouthwatering starters, Pissaladiere (French style pizzas), house made pastas, nightly specials, desserts and so much more. Modern cocktails, wines, and bottled and draft beers round out the menu, making for a savory and satisfying dining experience from start to finish. Clarke has many menu recommendations, but the Prohibition Black Chicken, a gluten free menu item, tops the list. “This is a throwback to coq au vin,” he said. “We brine the chicken in red wine then roast it. The idea goes back to the Prohibition Era when farmers would ask

other farmers to borrow eggs, milk, and a black chicken, which was code for wine.” Prohibition Black Chicken is Cabernet cured with herb essence, garlic juice and served with potato rosti. Chef Clarke urges those who love ribs to try the Milanese Baby Back Ribs. “We rub the ribs with pancetta and fresh herbs.” He cooks the ribs Sous Vide, as the ribs are placed in a vacuum-sealed pouch then placed in a water bath. The Milanese Baby Back Ribs are pancetta-rubbed with peach mostarda and grilled baby bok choy. Timber is open for lunch, dinner, happy hour, and reverse happy hour. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday and offers a selection of unlimited adult beverages. Timber has a catering menu, take-out menu, private party rooms, and kids and weekly specials. Timber has enjoyed continued success since opening its doors. “We have been open for seven months, and it’s going well.” Clarke said. As far as the future for more Clarke restaurants, he only smiled and said that he is always thinking of new concepts. But he made a point to say he is happy to be in Omaha and is enjoying what is happening locally with food and dining. “Omaha has grown a lot in that respect, it is very open minded. More talented chefs are coming to Omaha. And I can definitely do new things, diners trust me. It’s nice to be able to do that.”

Retirement—one of the most enjoyable milestones in life, especially if you reach it with good health and enough savings. While there are many things to think about, it is also a good time to refresh your estate plan. When did you last review your beneficiary designations? Do you know the amount of taxes your retirement accounts are going to generate and when? By the time you are retiring, your children may be well into their careers and you may be blessed with several grandchildren. Have you recently thought about the provisions you have in place for them? Perhaps your objectives have changed. You also need to consider the income tax consequences of your qualified retirement plan assets—that is, since you have put money into these accounts on a tax-deferred basis, income tax will be payable when you or your beneficiaries take distributions. Current federal law dictates when distributions from qualified retirement plan accounts must occur. The longer you can delay distributions under these rules, the longer the balance may continue to grow unencumbered by tax. Therefore, who you designate as your beneficiary impacts how soon and how much income tax will be due. Ordinarily, an individual beneficiary is required to withdraw the balance over his or her remaining life expectancy. For your child or grandchild, this could allow for many years of continued growth. If your trust is your beneficiary, in many instances the balance must be withdrawn over a five-year period. However, a properly structured trust may allow for a longer withdrawal period, and therefore a longer period for additional growth. Your surviving spouse is the ideal beneficiary, because your spouse can simply roll the
balance to his or her own retirement plan account and delay required withdrawals until reaching age 70 ½. Regardless of when amounts are withdrawn, the distributions constitute taxable income to the beneficiary and are taxed at that beneficiary’s tax rate. Charities are great beneficiaries for qualified retirement plan assets because qualifying charitable organizations will not pay income tax on the distributions. Therefore, your entire account could be available to support the charity and the constituents it serves. As you approach retirement, you should work with a knowledgeable attorney. By doing so, you’ll rest assured that you have an estate plan in place that meets your objectives in a tax-efficient manner. Then you can focus on enjoying your retirement, which just may include spending your retirement savings!

Brookestone Meadows Celebrates a Decade of Community-Based Care
oing the extra mile is a quality that is invaluable to an organization. And it’s often not something that can be forced or taught, but rather an inherent part of that organization’s culture. It’s a culture that Brookestone Meadows Rehabilitation and Care Center has become known for and is something the facility is looking forward to celebrating at its upcoming 10th Anniversary in November. When Vetter Health Services (now Vetter Senior Living) built the Elkhorn location a decade ago, they knew the need for a quality, short-term rehab and skilled nursing center was going to quickly grow in West Omaha. With its dark-stained wood interior and grand lobby fireplace, the facility rivals many hotels in its interior décor. Amenities include fresh popped popcorn and homemade soft serve ice cream, a beauty and barber shop, a chapel, three meals served daily that are prepared by an on-site culinary staff, 26” flat-screen TVs in all of the private and companion rooms, and three beautiful courtyards. But despite the beauty of the building and all of its extras, Brookestone Meadows wouldn’t be one of the premier rehab facilities in Omaha if it weren’t for the people who go that extra mile every day to ensure its residents have the best experience possible. completing rehab at home for hip and knee replacements rather than at a center such as Brookestone. Even with more medically complex patients, the center is able to meet their rehab needs. Jinae Attanasio, Director of Rehab, said their therapists are eager to learn the latest methods, including two therapists who have become certified in treating lymphedema. “We make sure our patients have the level of function they need to return home, and that is different for everyone,” Jinae said. Many patients come in prior to surgery to start aquatic rehab, knowing it can improve their recovery time post-surgery. “Customer satisfaction is what makes us different, and hospitals have built a trust in our facility, making us a preferred provider,” she added. As Brookestone Meadows prepares for its week-long anniversary celebration, which will honor team members, residents, and its partners in the community, they know that person-centered care is what they will continue to focus on for the next 10 years. And they invite anyone to stop in for a tour, an ice cream cone, or some fresh popped popcorn and experience that “extra mile” that has made Brookestone Meadows a quality name in care.

of Nursing Dawn Truckenbrod, who has been at Brookestone since it opened, said despite the many changes she’s seen in health care over the years and the processes they have to follow to stay compliant, every single one of their 275 employees truly care about the people who come in and out of their facility. “Families trust us with their loved ones, so we’re always striving to exceed their expectations,” Dawn said. Whether it’s one of the van drivers transporting a patient someplace on his day off, or a nurse surprising a patient with his favorite dessert, Dawn said they are always focused on the individual’s needs and customizing their care. “It’s a company-wide priority, and because of that, Vetter Senior Living ensures we have the latest technology and tools in order to meet the needs of all our patients,” Dawn added. a hero among us Many kids want to grow up to be a superhero. But having one visit you in person is the next best thing. Three years ago, eight-year-old Sutton Banion underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his skull, a rare condition called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH). During his hospital stay, a familiar face stopped by—Optimus Prime from The Transformers. Seeing the smile that the larger-thanlife hero put on her little hero’s face was something Sutton’s mother Meghan Sedlacek will never forget.

Edge: What were Sutton’s first symptoms? Meghan: I felt a bump on his head and thought maybe he had fallen. When it didn’t go away after several days, I took him to the doctor. Thinking it could be a cyst, they did an ultrasound, followed by an MRI. It was finally diagnosed by Dr. Mark Puccioni from Midwest Neurosurgery & Spine as LCH. Edge: What is LCH? Meghan: Langerhans cells are a type of white blood cell that normally help the body fight infection. In LCH, too many Langerhans cells are produced and build up in certain parts of the body where they can form tumors. The cause of this disease is unknown and occurs in about 1 in 200,000 children. Edge: What treatment did Sutton receive? Meghan: Initially he was supposed to have two surgeries: one to remove the tumor, and a second a few weeks later to graft part of his skull from one side to cover up the side with the tumor. But during surgery they decided to do it all at once. It took almost six hours—hours where “walk b faith” and humbling prayer defined me. But Children’s Hospital took such good care of him. Edge: Sutton, what do you remember about being in the hospital? Sutton: I was really scared. Edge: I bet you were! Do you remember when Optimus Prime visited you in the hospital? Sutton: Yes! It was really cool! He was so tall. I want to see War Machine and Deadpool too. I’ve seen most of the Avengers movies, and Captain America is my favorite. Edge: Midwest Heroes is the organization that visited Sutton in the hospital. How did you hear about them? Meghan: Don and Heather Barnhill are wonderful people, and I learned about the organization when I worked with Heather. Heather Barnhill: We’re a group of friends who want to put a smile on kids’ faces when they’re going through something they shouldn’t have to go through. We make all of the costumes ourselves, mostly from scratch, and have a wide variety, including Disney princesses. We volunteer at fundraising events, 60 |

visit hospitals, and only accept payment in the form of donations to non-profit organizations. Requests can be filled out on our Facebook page, facebook.com/ midwestheroes. Meghan: I want people to be aware of the Midwest Heroes organization and the work they do in the community, and I want people to be aware of LCH because it’s so rare. We’re so blessed that Sutton has been in good health since his last surgery (July of 2016). He’s our angel baby; thoughtful and caring, and teaches me every day to be a better person. I’m so grateful for that, and so grateful to the Barnhill’s for reaching out and helping in a small way that made a huge impact on us. Edge: Sutton, now that you’re healthy, what do you like to do? Sutton: I like playing baseball, basketball, and football, but baseball is my favorite. This summer I built a tree house with my older brother,Thane, and my friend across the street. It took us three months, and we hung out there all summer. Edge: Are girls allowed in your tree house? Sutton: (blushes) Yeah, girls are allowed.

A TRUE
TRAILBLAZER Skylar Heinrich | Elkhorn HIgh School | Junior by Edge Staff When it comes to “going for it,” Elkhorn High School junior Skylar Heinrich doesn’t hold back. As a freshman, she made the varsity soccer team. As a sophomore, she committed to play soccer at Creighton University. And this past summer, she was offered a spot on FC Kansas City’s Development Academy (DA) as the only female player from Nebraska. In its inaugural season and created by U.S. Soccer, the FC Kansas City DA is one of 69 clubs from seven regions across the country. The goal of the program is to accelerate players with their long-term development by providing an increased number of training opportunities for 10 months out of the year. Although games will be held in states such as Texas, Florida, and California, the number of training sessions—four per week—far outnumber the amount of games played. As the only out-of-state player on the team, Skylar’s parents, Kevin and Amy, take turns driving Skylar to Kansas City three times per week for practice. The high school has worked with her schedule so that she has a study hall at the end of the days she has practice so she has time to travel. On the days she can’t train in KC, she can practice with a team locally. Skylar will be able to still play for her high school team in the spring, but given the fall schedule with FCKC, she has decided not to keep playing competitively for Elkhorn Soccer Club, whom she’s been with since she was 10-year-old. “I’ll miss playing for ESC, but to get to play for this new DA is a great opportunity,” she said. “It’s the path I want to be on for playing in college and maybe even beyond.” Skylar’s parents are fully supportive of the commitment required to get her to KC for practice each week. “It’s the path she really wants to be on, and soccer has been so good for her,” Amy said. “It’s made her more assertive as a person, and the environment allows for increased technical ability with soccer. It’s all just a good fit.”

SCORING BIG
IN SCOTLAND Matthew Anderson | Creighton Prep | Junior by Edge Staff Having a chance to play a sport overseas is a unique opportunity. For 16-year-old Matthew Anderson, it’s happened twice. As a freshman, he traveled to Costa Rica to train with Nebraska State Soccer’s Olympic Development Program. This coming February, he has been invited to Glasgow, Scotland, to train with the Celtic Soccer Academy. This most recent opportunity came as the result of having attended one of the Academy’s national training camps in Florida this past summer. Matthew has played for Elkhorn Soccer Club since he was nine-years-old and was identified by them as a good candidate for the training camp. “It was really fun learning how they play the game, which is a lot quicker—only one or two touches—than the way we play soccer in the U.S.,” Matthew said, adding that what he learned on and off the pitch (field) was invaluable. Following the camp, Matthew was one of two players from the U.S. invited to train with the Celtic Academy team in Scotland. “It’s a great opportunity, and we’re in full support of it,” said Matthew’s father, Dave Anderson. “It’s helped make him well-rounded and confident to travel, while developing a real compassion for people and their culture,” said his mother, Erin Anderson. “It’s pushed him to try harder, get out of his comfort zone, and manage his time with practice, friends, and school.” With a 3.8 GPA at Creighton Prep as a junior, Matthew admits juggling all his responsibilities can be challenging. But he said the culture and values he’s developed playing soccer for ESC has helped. “They have such a family atmosphere, that my teammates are close friends off the field too,” he explained. Adding that his ESC coach, Nedim Hasanbegovic, reminds the team that soccer is just a game and you need to work hard in daily life to accept all the challenges that can come your way. “We try to make each other better every day,” Matthew said. “And that’s inspiring.”
