WELCOME!
TO HIGH SCHOOL
Welcome to Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart, a community rooted in a strong Catholic, Dominican educational tradition.
At Edgewood, we believe strongly in educating the whole student. Our talented faculty is committed to helping students achieve the high standards of academic excellence necessary to be competitive in the post-high school landscape. We also value the importance of teaching our students social responsibility, commitment to service and respect for others.
Our school has long been a community where we offer strength and support to each other academically, spiritually and socially. As we work together to make Edgewood a great place for students to learn and grow, we ask that all members of our community remember and embrace our Sinsinawa Dominican values of Truth, Compassion, Justice, Community, and Partnership.
May God bless.

Our Board of Directors is prayerfully and strategically selected with the intention of using their expertise to benefit EHS, both currently and in the future. Board members work hand-in-hand with our president and administration to ensure fulfillment of Edgewood’s mission and vision.

While a Catholic education is important, we understand that investing in a private school can be financially challenging. About 40% of EHS students receive needs-based financial assistance and grants, up to a maximum of 55% of tuition and standard fees. If you feel that tuition might be cost-prohibitive for your family, please request and complete a confidential Financial Assistance Application Form. Merit-based Awards are also available.
NEEDS-BASED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE —
To qualify for financial assistance and receive an award letter, you must be either an existing or admitted and registered student. Edgewood uses the Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS) program to process financial assistance requests and determine each family’s financial need. TADS uniformly collects the necessary information from each family, audits it and provides this information to Edgewood to be used as a tool for identifying and matching needs-based assistance with families. The TADS Financial Aid Worksheet helps determine if your family may be eligible. Applications are available online through the TADS website beginning in January. Submission deadline is end of March. Decision notification is shared in May.

STUDENT SERVICES & COUNSELING
Edgewood focuses attention on the worth and growth of every student, and our counselors are crucial to maintaining that commitment to nurturing each individual student’s unique strengths. EHS assigns each student a school counselor before the start of their freshman year. Students remain with the same school counselor for all four years of their high school experience, working together on any academic, personal, social, emotional, and leadershiprelated topics. A second college/career counselor works with students on topics related to career exploration, identifying interests and abilities, college/major exploration, and help juniors and seniors develop an individualized plan for identifying and applying to colleges that are a “good fit” for each student.
Our counselors support the needs of our students at all learning levels. We stay updated on the latest benefits available to those who require special attention, and we work closely with parents to meet requirements.

R CLThe Learning Resource Center is an in-house tutoring and academic coaching center available to Edgewood students during the school day. Enrolled students may have neurodivergent learning styles or formal diagnoses, a history of academic challenges in particular courses/subjects, or may greatly benefit from additional individualized support.
The LRC works with students to establish a skill set that includes time management, organization, executive functioning, and self-advocacy. The center is staffed by professionals who specialize in various academic subjects and assist students at all levels of curriculum. The staff creates a net of support for students by collaborating with teachers, counselors, and families to create and execute plans for academic improvement. The small group/intimate setting allows LRC to focus on the whole student, developing personal connections beyond those typically found in the traditional classroom. There is an additional charge for LRC services. Financial assistance is available.

SPIRITUAL LIFE
The spiritual growth of all members of the Edgewood High School community is of utmost importance. The Campus Ministry Department offers opportunities for students, faculty and staff to engage in reflective and active lives guided by our Catholic Dominican values. In response to students’ needs, they are encouraged to grow in knowledge of religious traditions, to reflect on contemporary issues, and share their experiences with others.
STUDENT RETREATS
The Campus Ministry Department recognizes the value of spending time away from daily routines to engage in spiritual, interpersonal, and emotional development. Consequently, a yearly grade-level retreat is required of all students, facilitated by Campus Ministers, Edgewood faculty and staff members, and Peer Ministry student leaders.
WORSHIP & PRAYER
To acknowledge and celebrate the value of faith in our community, we gather as a school approximately once per month for liturgy. These all-school prayer service Catholic Masses are led by students in Peer Ministry and are relevant to the needs and interests of the student body. Students are required to be in attendance, as worship is part of our human spiritual growth. Within the traditions of the Catholic Church, students choose music and visuals to engage the spirit and guide reflection. Campus Ministry also offers liturgical opportunities throughout the year, including weekly morning Mass in our Chapel, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Memorial Prayer Services and a Memorial Mass.

AN ANNUAL SCHOOLWIDE DAY OF SERVICE
VOLUNTEERING TOGETHER IN OUR MISSION OF SERVICE SINCE 2000
As an integral part of our homecoming activities, the entire student body, faculty and staff, and even some parents and alumni work at more than 50 sites in the Madison area for a full day of volunteer service. This special day provides over 3,000 hours of community service to nursing homes, schools, hospitals, food banks, social service programs, parks, and several non-profit agencies. At the conclusion of EIC, the students and staff return to campus to celebrate the day and reflect on our experiences together.

OF OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Co-curricular activities are designed to provide opportunities for growth, challenge, and achievement for students beyond the curriculum. They are an integral part of our educational program and offer a variety of activities designed to meet a wide range of student interests.
By participating in any of these activities, students can have fun, make new friends, develop and exercise leadership skills, and build positive self-esteem.
Study Abroad trips provide worldly educational experience for our students. This year, students study in England and Japan. Future trips will include traveling to Greece and Italy.
AWARD-WINNING ESPORTS TEAM
The Edgewood Elite Esports team is a founding member of the Wisconsin High School Esports Association (WIHSEA) league. Esports provides an engaging experience to prepare athletes for college level gaming, focusing on good sportsmanship, athletic achievement and fierce competition.
MANY OF OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN BOTH ATHLETICS AND THEATER SHOWS
WE’RE PROUD OF OUR AWARD-WINNING PERFORMING AND VISUAL ARTS PROGRAMS!
Edgewood recognizes the importance of fine arts as part of a well-rounded education. All students are required to take at least one credit of fine arts during their high school career and many students take a course every year. Our fine arts programs offer creative and innovative opportunities for students through diverse curriculum in art, drama, and music showcasing both performance and non-performance classes. Students frequently submit their work to juried visual art shows and writing competitions. Students of all interests, experiences, and curiosities are welcome and will find a home for themselves in our arts community!
McKinley Performing Arts Center features a state-of-the-art, 465-seat theater, music classrooms and rehearsal spaces to support music education and artistic innovation. The space provides a destination for the community to share its passion for the arts and accommodate campuswide events, lectures and liturgies.
OF OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATE ON ATHLETIC TEAMS
Our students challenge and encourage one another to perform — in the classroom and in competitive athletic pursuits. About 65% of students belong to one or more sports teams. Since joining the WIAA in 2000, our Crusaders have captured almost 100 Badger Conference Championships and have been State Champion or Runner-up more than 75 times in 15 different sports. In addition to 24 WIAA-sanctioned sports for boys and girls, EHS also offers title-winning Dance and Ski/Snowboard Teams.
Our goal is to produce great students that embody the athletic program motto of “working on a championship, while building character”. We use athletics to teach fundamental and important life skills. We help our student-athletes to embrace the concept of “Us-We-Together”, while representing Edgewood in a positive manner in the classroom and on and off the field.

WHY WE FUNDRAISE IN ADDITION TO CHARGING TUITION
Did you know? As a private Catholic high school, Edgewood does not receive Diocesan, federal or state financial support. We rely on philanthropic giving to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost to educate each student. Charitable support directly impacts our school’s success and the experience of our students.
Tax-deductible, unrestricted donations are the best way for parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends to support the immediate needs of our school, enhancing the Edgewood experience for all families. All donations support the programs and resources available to our students while keeping an Edgewood education more affordable to all. These funds must be replenished annually.

— A COMMUNITY FOR LIFE —
Support our mission of service by volunteering at our school with your time, talent or treasure. We strive for 100% family participation in our events by volunteering or financially donating. Some of our fundraising opportunities include: Crusader Kickoff, Edgewood in the Community, Giving Day, E Club and Encore Committees, Spring Fling Auction, and Wilke Golf Outing. Consider becoming a corporate or family sponsor of our events as an additional way to give.
Edgewood Parent Community (EPC) provides volunteer support to students, staff and other parents. Through your student’s enrollment at Edgewood, you are automatically a member of the EPC.
Our active alumni community is 10,000+ strong!
We maintain engaging and quality connections with our alumni to provide networking, resources, updates and opportunities for both current students and graduates to stay connected with their Alma Mater through Mentorships, Alumni Ambassadors, Lifetime Memberships and Reunions.
ALUMTURNSHIPS — Mentoring students teaches real-life career skills.
Our students have access to a career networking opportunity database with information of both EHS Alumni and Madison area professionals who have offered their expertise and knowledge in their career field to students on an individual basis. Students can use this to connect with professionals in fields of interests for advice, consultation, job-shadow opportunities, or potential internship positions.
