The Edinburgh International Festival welcomes visitors from around the world to Scotland’s beautiful capital city. We would like to extend a special invitation to you to consider a visit to our wonderful Festival. In 2011 we have a special focus on Chinese and Asian artists. The Edinburgh International Festival is also the ideal way to enhance a trip to the Olympics in London in 2012.
About the Festival The Edinburgh International Festival aims to be the most exciting, innovative and accessible festival of the performing arts in the world, and was founded in 1947 For three weeks every August artists from around the world bring the very best in international theatre, dance, opera and classical music to Scotland’s capital city

The Festival runs from 12 August – 4 September 2011, with a ‘To the Far West’ theme

Full details of the programme will be announced on 23 March 2011 Explores the beautiful traditions and philosophies of the diverse cultures of Asia, both ancient and modern Presents Asian masterpieces alongside works by Western artists who have been inspired by them Welcomes the finest artists from China, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam as well as world renowned performers from Europe and the West Enjoy performances by the National Ballet of China and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra; dance from acclaimed Vietnamese choreographer Ea Sola; a contemporary version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet by the Shanghai Peking Opera Troupe and much more
