It has a generation portfolio of approximately 24,600 megawatts. GenOn’s portfolio of power generation facilities includes baseload, intermediate and peaking units using coal, natural gas and oil to generate electricity. In December 2010, Mirant Corporation and RRI Energy, Inc. announced the completion of their merger to form GenOn Energy, Inc. The Company has 49 (owned, contracted or operated) generating stations. It has a capacity to generate 24,599 megawatts of electricity across the United States.
