GODVERDOMME wat heb ik toch weinig te klagen. Met andere woorden, wat heb ik toch een vet leven GODVERDOMME! Het is hier al twee maanden zomer met soms een buitje maar omdat het zo warm is wordt de straat niet eens nat. Het is af en toe wat frisjes met 25ºC maar je hoort mij niet klagen. Ben lekker aan het cruisen op mijn Honda fiets en soms neem ik mijn blades mee en ga ik rollen in één of ander dorpje. Begrijp me niet verkeerd, ik klaag nog elke dag (ben en blijf een Hollander) en haat net zoals Cavin op van alles en nog wat maar haten is net als honger hebben in een welvarend land. Eet een veganistische donut of cupcake, spoel het weg met een soja latte en de honger is gestild. Hetzelfde geldt voor haten “have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up”*. Ik zeur veel over Amerika, Amerikanen en het weer en Amerika is geen Amsterdam maar ik ga proberen minder te klagen, te zeiken en te haten want eigenlijk is het heel VET! xoxo dooley *RAW

With records I mean vinyl, not cd’s A few years ago, I bought a sixth-hand LP-player at the goodwill, and slowly started collecting records. Because you can’t just choose a single track on an LP, I notice that I play certain records more often if each and every song is good. My collection isn’t that big, and the highlights include Boney M’s greatest hits, Kinderen voor Kinderen 1 t/m 5 and one my mum found in the attic: without a label and with Indian jamming. But I still have some favorites to share with you:
Top 5 records of which each single track is good 6. Honorable mentions: Theres a few records that didn’t make the final top 5, but I’d still like to mention. Bad by Michael Jackson, Into the Wild by Eddie Vedder, Unplugged in New York by Nirvana, Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor by Caro Emerald, Graceland by Paul Simon and Endtroducing... by DJ Shadow. Great records, but not the creme de la creme.
5. Nina Simone: I Put a Spell on You: Actually every Nina Simone is an ace. A lovely voice, different genres on the same record and always a few tracks you’ll recognize. Perfect for a Sunday morning.
4. Michael Jackson: Thriller: The best selling LP of all time, and justly so. Nowadays all these hits would be spread out over 4 records to generate more income. Thriller sounds like a greatest hits, even though it wasn’t. I don’t listen to it that much, mostly when I’m cleaning or cooking.
3. Jr. Walker & The All Stars: Roadrunner: Apparently this is a famous one for people who know more about records than I do. I heard it in a thrift shop and thought it was James Brown. Saxophone and just good music, I play it when the sunlight breaks through.
2. Miles Davis: Kind of Blue: Jazz is always good, yet this record is better then the others I have. Perfect background music for a dinner or company.
1. Dj Shadow & Cut Chemist: Brainfreeze: More of a mixtape then a record. But what a freaking good one. Funk, turntablism and every time some memories from the starting period of my skate-life. Because there’s no silence it’s one of the best records for me to put on. If I’m home alone with my son Tijn we dance to it regularly. This one will be played for years. I’m curious about other people’s Top5: music, skatevideos, skaters, skatespots, places where no moles can occur, Top 5 solutions if you run out of toiletpaper, etc. Go wild, mail that shit!
