PROGRAMME NOTES The music is composed as illustration for some of the “Coloured Stories” by latvian poet Imants Ziedonis. These stories are for children and they are written with a very special, quasi childish imagination. I was trying to get into this imagination and make my own version. The “White Story” is the picture of the first snow - ”Yesterday the first snow was falling and today everything is so white, so white, that nothing is possible to distinguish. The ”Brown Story” - “There are living such small brown gnomes. When they are coming and screaming -”brown, brown, brown!” - everything becomes immediately ready - nuts on the tree, pancakes on the pan, bread in the owen. There is only one problem - they never like to be seen. The ”Blue Story” is about a blue horse. It drinks blue water, eats blue food and is always alone. It is the horse of our dreams.

PERFORMANCE NOTE The tempos and notation for the pedal are approximate.
