Die Wanderin NOTES
VIOLIN
PERCUSSION
PIANO
AUDIO PLAYBACK
The violin must be strongly amplified (fx. contact mic)
It is recommended to amplify the percussion
Depending on the nature of the actual instrument and concert hall, it could be advisable to close the piano lid in order to create a lontano effect.
The audio playback consist of two elements: Foodsteps and ambient chords or notes. Both elements are notated in the score. The tempo of the 16ths is defined by the foodsteps.
The violin part is based on the sound of human breathing. Generally the dynamic phrasing for each ‘ex- and inhalation’ is the following:
instruments:
Gran Cassa (damped with the free hand or a pillow or the like)
Grace notes: As fast as possible.
Wind Machine In order to obtain the “tone-less” breathing sound it is advisable to use a bow with as little rosin as possible. The use of diamond shaped notes does not indicate that clear, specific flageolet notes should appear. On the contrary, those should be avoided.
Large suspended cymbal (played with two very soft mallets)
Glissando / poratamento: Starting approximately half-way between the two notes. on-beat grace note (actual duration) before-beat grace note
