How the Supporting RCOs project will help
From April 2013 to 2015, this innovative project will:
The project will help RCOs by:
■■Build the capacity of London’s refugee community organisations (RCOs) to effectively develop, plan and implement projects, hence delivering effective, efficient and accessible services to their clients. ■■Improve RCOs’ understanding of the Equality Rights of their clients and the duties and responsibilities of service providers at all levels. It will also help RCOs to develop an equality-based approach to service delivery. ■■Work with mainstream and generic service providers and enable them to engage with RCOs and, thus, deliver services that reflect the needs of refugees and asylum seekers, particularly those with multiple Equality Act protected characteristics. ■■Work with RCOs and help them to improve their organisational viability by increasing their capacity to evolve and respond to changing environments.
■■Providing one-to-one advice and support sessions to RCOs and help them to fundraise for their programme activities and services. ■■Offering a free, London-wide training programme on various aspects of capacity building, particularly with a focus on income generation, collaboration and partnership development for London-based refugee and migrant organisations. ■■Providing information to RCOs and other frontline organisations working with refugees on issues relevant to their work, their organisational development, and the quality of services they provide to their clients. ■■Providing training to RCOs on how to develop an ‘Equalities-based’ approach to service delivery. ■■Working with generic sub-regional service providers and advising them on how to engage with RCOs and on how to improve the quality of their services to clients of refugee background.
