Art Alexander It is with great shock and sadness we announce the untimely death of Art Alexander on April 27, 2011. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1927 to Mary and Lyall Alexander. Art always enjoyed life to the fullest, savouring hunting, fishing, golf and many other athletic activities. He excelled at business endeavours, and while working at National Cash Register became one of their top sales people nationwide. When his interest in this career waned in the early 1970s, he decided to go into real estate, starting Art Alexander Realty Ltd., a well known company on the Coast and in Vancouver. Always a great supporter of the local economy, he will always be remembered as one of the partners whose inspiration led to the building of the Pender Harbour Shopping Centre. Left to grieve his loss are his brothers Jack (Vancouver) and Ted (Garden Bay); sister Mary Lou (Bruno) of Qualicum; nephew Roman Pasqualotto, Crista Holmes, Lisa and Rick Clements, Frid Eva Storeng (Bill), Viivi Alexander, Scott McQuitty and many other friends and relatives. Art, you wrote down you did not want to be a burden. Please understand you were never, ever a burden. It was so hard to see you struggle with your normal, so quickly handled routines in the last few months. May you be a peace now and your burdens erased. Art’s wishes were to have no service, but there has been a request for a celebration of life at a future date.

Marion spent most of her life in Sechelt as the devoted wife and mom of the late Manford Cook and Shirley Jones. She was active with the Seniors, the Legion, the St. Mary’s Thrift Store and as a visitor at Totem Lodge. Marion enjoyed family and the simple things in life such as a walk, drive, cards, slots or plane ride (that didn’t crash!). Marion was a trickster who loved a good laugh. One had to be wary when Marion and Eve were together – not a single unsuspecting person ever got away without a “Royal Flush” in the face! Marion will be missed by her grandchildren Brad (Christine), Heather (Lance), Brenda (Nicolas), seven grandkids, many siblings, son-in-law Gord, Betty and all her other friends. Nan, you were an incredible woman who taught us to laugh and love life.We thank you and love you.
