Survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Michael; her children, Thomas (Jan), Teresa and Michael (Marie); grandchildren, Nicole, Stephen, Jonathan, Jordan, Reid and Cole; and great-granddaughter Carrie. Barbara passed away peacefully in The Village at Smith Creek in West Kelowna, B.C., at the age of 77. She was born and grew up in Vancouver, and raised her family in Coquitlam. In retirement, with her husband Michael, she enjoyed many great years living oceanfront on the Sunshine Coast, and the last seven years in the Okanagan. The family wishes to thank the staff of Smith Creek for their never-ending support in Barbara’s final years. Extra thanks to Gracie for her kind consideration and attention. Service for family only, by request. Barbara’s ashes will be spread in Welcome Pass, at the mouth of Secret Cove, when weather permits. In lieu of cards and flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Jacqueline (Jackie) Lola Crowell (Micielli) ~ 1933-2011 Passed away peacefully in St. Mary’s Hospital on October 31, 2011. She will be very missed by her husband, Stan Crowell; her daughter Jo-Anne (Takashi) Ogawa; granddaughters Breanna and Angela; great-granddaughter Reimi; brother Dennis Micielli; and many relatives and friends who loved and cherished her very much. Jackie was born and raised in Revelstoke, BC, the second of four children born to Guy and Jenny Micielli. She lived the first 53 years of her life there, where she was an intricate and familiar part of the community. Jackie and Stan moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1985, then the following year they embarked upon a new business, Marina Pharmacy in Madeira Park, BC. Jackie dedicated the next 13 years to getting to know their valued customers and providing them with warm, kind and professional service that reflected her true personality. She connected on a very intimate level with animals, especially dogs. Peppy and Thatcher will be so happy to have her back to spoil them again! As a diversified music lover, from artists like Andrea Bocelli and Pavarotti to Usher and NSYNC, she never missed an opportunity to attend their concerts if she could; and truly “rocked out” or “got down” more than most of the young people there! She sang in the Glee Club and church choir. She loved her private time in the comfort of her home and spent the remainder of her free time in her garden. Those who knew Jackie appreciated her stylish fashion sense, her humour and quick wit, her ability to carry on a conversation (on being the key word), her loyalty and her amazing kindness and generosity. Keeping true to her character, she chose Halloween and beautiful fireworks as the time to say goodbye to us … or, you could say, “She went out with a bang!” Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jackie’s life at an informal gathering which will take place at Living Faith Lutheran Church, at the corner of Highway 101 and Whitaker Road in Davis Bay, on Sunday, November 13, from 2pm to 4pm. Special thanks from the family to Dr. Robinson, all the home care workers, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as the paramedics and Father Vincent Nguyen. Donations may be made on Jackie’s behalf to the BC Cancer Society.

After John’s death in January, 2011, Joyce enjoyed living with her sister Barbs until being hospitalized in September this year. Joyce will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Love lives on in the hearts of all who remember and care.
Mary “Louise” MUNRO (nee Macey) Passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Sechelt, BC, at the age of 87. Born in Haney (Maple Ridge) on July 8, 1924. Louise was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Harry Robert Munro (January, 2010). Louise was the only daughter to Lillian and Ernie Macey and oldest sister to her three brothers, Don (Dot), Bob (Lois) and Roy (Penny). Louise married and had four children in Richmond BC: Ian (Lynne), Sheila, Brian (Christine) and Leisa (Roland). She will be greatly missed by her children and her nine grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren; brothers Roy and Don, sister-in-law Darlene (Nick) and niece, Karin (George). In 1966, Louise and her young family moved to Pender Harbour and began a long, hard-working venture to raise and support the family. Louise would work long hours as a chambermaid at the resort in Madeira Park, pick salal during inclement weather (very hard on the hands) and do sewing, knitting, smocking and various crafts. She eventually gravitated to the fine art and talent of quilting, which became her signature. Louise spent her retirement years as a member of the Pender Harbour Piece Makers Quilting Group, and it is here that she met her dear friends. She enjoyed their company, workshops, lunches, dinners and annual excursions that took her away from home where she became a social butterfly. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and especially Dr. Robinson, her family doctor for many years. There will be no service by request. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation, in remembrance of Louise, to the charity of your choice.
