Lean Into It
I gravitate towards people who “lean into” the conversation, their work, their play; you know they’re into It! Where did the phrase, “lean into it” come from?
Lean in became a business motto in 2013, taken from the title of the book, “Lean In: Women Work and the Will to Lead” written by Shery Sandberg, the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, and Nell Scovel, a writer and Sandberg’s collaborator. The phrasal verb, lean into something: I lean in to accept the challenge of doing something and try hard to do it successfully. Golf is a catalyst for incredible opportunity, pushing athletes to new heights, inspiring creativity and innovation all over the world!
August is National Golf Month, consider the exciting course we are on together. In marketing golf, we follow the risks, vulnerability, and passion of the industry, watching homemade prototypes skyrocket to the top of the market, and seeing the turf life grow greener and brighter year by year. The secret to golf’s longevity is the tradition of “leaning into” what makes us most frustrated, challenged, and joyful!
From advanced agricultural sciences to simulated virtual courses, these innovations are not novelties of an old game, but avenues that enhance our understanding of how boundlessly the bold play. Today, we play a course of transformation, shifting demographics, and a renewed focus on community. It’s the courage to “lean into” the hardest opportunities that present themselves that have brought us to this bright world stage. Together, we choose to ELEVATE and APPRECIATE what it takes each of us to “lean in!”
Marketing golf can be a difficult, but you just have to get up every day and “lean into it!”
