Our Mission
The Mission of Christian Unified Schools of San Diego is “to train students to think, learn, and live from a Biblical worldview.” A nurturing Christ-centered environment, staffed with dedicated, loving teachers, creates an atmosphere where students blossom and grow—intellectually, socially, and spiritually. The rigorous college prep curriculum allows students to reach their full potential, preparing them for college and the world before them. Partnering with parents, CUSSD is dedicated to academic excellence; devoted to expanding each student’s understanding of the world; and determined that each student grows in their faith.
Elementary School
Christian Elementary School is committed to providing an academic and spiritual foundation that fosters a love of learning in an atmosphere where children can develop their God-given gifts and talents. The academic program is based on early mastery of strong reading and writing skills, incorporating critical thinking into all curricular areas. Using Biblically integrated curriculum, Christian Elementary Schools emphasize daily that God is Truth and that His Word is the primary source of knowledge. The core curriculum combined with dynamic art, music and band programs fully prepares students for junior high school.
Junior High School
Supporting, challenging, and loving adolescents during the interval between elementary school and high school is significant in the development of each student at Christian Junior High. Through a Christcentered curriculum, daily interaction with teachers, and chapels, students find emotional and spiritual shelter, as well as a place of intellectual challenge. The academic program focuses on developing higher-level thinking skills through investigative science, abstract math, and literary analysis. Numerous elective courses, from Computers to Drama, and a variety of after-school sports are also offered to help students find their niche in life. The transitional junior high school years are ones filled with energy and excitement. Christian Junior High School makes the most of this dynamic, formative window of time.
High School
Christian High School offers a rigorous college preparatory program that has successfully matriculated students to Harvard, Duke, MIT, USC, Wheaton, Biola, the Navy Academy and a host of other fine colleges and universities. The academic program includes honors and Advanced Placement courses in History, Math, Science, Spanish, English and Art. Upper-level apologetics, world religion, and worldview Bible courses allow students to develop a deep understanding of Christianity, preparing them for challenges to their faith. Students are taught to think critically and to develop analytical skills for the present and for their future. The vision of Christian High School is for students to achieve the highest levels of Christian scholarship and learning, in order to accomplish the eternal purposes for which God created them.
Athletics
Patriot Athletics have a strong tradition and history of success in San Diego. Teams are guided by a veteran staff of coaches who are dedicated to helping student athletes fulfill their full potential. Thirteen different sports, representing 30 teams, make up the Christian High School program. There are also 11 junior high teams and six elementary teams. The mission: “Train young athletes, through integrity and character, to glorify Christ with their talents and abilities, and to be an example to others on and off the playing field.” “Athletics provides an excellent ‘classroom’ for teaching character, hard work, and teamwork. Our program seeks to develop not only excellent athletes and teams, but exceptional individuals of integrity.” – Athletic Director

Visual and Performing Arts
The Visual and Performing Arts programs at Christian Unified Schools are designed to stimulate and develop an appreciation of art, music, and drama, while developing a degree of performance proficiency. Some students will develop a lifetime association with the arts from a layman’s viewpoint. Others will find inspiration and skills that lead to a career in music, art or drama. Courses include Drama, Symphonic Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Choral Music, Vocal Ensemble and a variety of Art classes. A film production lab provides an excellent venue for Film and Video Production classes.
International Program The International Program at CUSSD accepts students from all over the world who meet our admissions requirements. Students are tested and placed in appropriate content-based, mainstreamed classes and language-support classes through a High Intensity Language Training (HILT) program that tracks their progress all through school. Students become proficient in academic English (reading, vocabulary, grammar, writing, listening, and speaking) as they prepare for university-level work. In addition, students have the opportunity to gain cultural exposure as they live in an American home and participate in activities such as student government, extra-curricular trips, volunteering, fine arts, and sports.
Academic Support The Academic Support Program at Christian Unified recognizes that all children are uniquely designed by God for His purpose. Within His design, some children struggle more in the academic arena than others. CUSSD provides these students with support needed to realize their God-placed potential, thus giving them hope for their future. Power Learning uses the Barton Program to provide intervention and accommodation for elementary students who are not experiencing success with the classroom curriculum. Study Skills classes are designed to provide academic support and to help secondary students develop the necessary skills to succeed independently. Read 360 is a junior and senior high school course designed to improve students’ reading abilities. Math Labs provide aide to students in a variety of math subjects.
Reaching Out... We believe a major function of Christian Education is imparting a humble “ministry mentality. Challenging young people to serve others as a way of life in the midst of a materialistic culture can be difficult. This is why CUSSD presents our students with many opportunities for service. They can participate in providing school supplies to kids in homeless shelters or visiting the elderly. They can help rebuild homes in dilapidated neighborhoods. They can even reach out beyond our community to other parts of the world in places such as Honduras, China, and Tanzania. Every high school student must accumulate a total of 45 hours of community service in order to graduate. The goal is to cultivate a lifestyle of compassion and service that permeates every aspect of their world.
