A MESSAGE from the Founder

E

scondido Charter High School (ECHS) is committed to helping students become well-rounded, educated and successful individuals. The top universities are looking for students with diverse backgrounds and interests and we strive to help our students reach their potential. ECHS has opened its doors to welcome students from all over the globe. We believe this is a great opportunity not only for our students to learn about other cultures and lifestyles, but also for students from around the world to learn about traditional American culture and values. International students attending our school will receive the same superior level of care and instruction that every student receives when studying at ECHS. We have developed many exciting programs in order to promote the academic and personal success of our international students. One example is the new “International Leadership” class, comprised of American and international students, that has been added to our extensive course offerings. International students can be sure that they will have the best experience possible along with a quality education that prepares them for the top colleges and universities in the United States. Our international staff is dedicated to making the adjustment to a new country as easy and smooth as possible for our international students. Our faculty understands the difficult issues that are faced when studying abroad. Our network of families has extended a helping hand to host and care for new students as if they were their own children. Together we have created a warm and friendly community where our new international students can flourish and have a life-changing learning experience. INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

he International Program is an exciting and dynamic blend of learning methods designed specifically for the international student to shine in high school and excel in college. Students take part in classroom courses with Americans to enhance the cultural experience of life in the United States. Additionally, students in the program study subjects individually with ECHS teachers, thereby receiving personalized attention to help them progress rapidly through subjects in which they may already naturally stand out. The International Homeroom is available throughout the day and is established to provide a variety of support services. Here, students will have access to additional academic assistance from teachers and staff regarding classes and homework from all subjects. The environment provides students the opportunity to discuss personal, social and academic issues with staff that have many years of experience supporting international students. Along with an array of excursions and activities planned, the Homeroom is a center that promotes students’ academic and personal growth. Combining all resources of individual and classroom learning, the International Program is truly innovative, and provides support in all aspects of life in the U.S. Our staff knows all international students personally, and works to understand each individual’s background - in order to promote students’ strengths and help overcome any challenges.

ACADEMICS B

uilding confidence and self-esteem begins by recognizing the individuality of each student and their future potential. At Escondido Charter High School, we provide small teacher to student ratios with some subjects taught one to one. The ability to provide personalized attention allows students and teachers to form stronger bonds, which in turn fosters a passion to learn and a greater sense of self-accomplishment. More importantly, it allows students to really discover their passions and future career pathways. Our teachers are outstanding because they truly love to teach and care about each student. Excellence in teaching is about encouraging innovation, sparking questions and shaping each student to go beyond their potential. We believe that it is our job to educate students and build them into responsible and motivated leaders in society.

San Diego has been voted as one of the best cities to live in, based upon the following factors: safety, education, living standards, job prospects and diversity.

STUDENT LIFE T

eamwork and the importance of interpersonal relationships are skills we want to nurture in our students. Whether it is joining a team, or scoring a goal, we feel that athletics play a crucial role in the growth of a student. Sports teach students key life lessons like team building, sacrifice, respect, and honesty that can be taken off the athletic field and applied to everyday situations.

Art, Music, Design At ECHS we encourage our students to think outside the box. We want to cultivate students to explore different forms of artistic expressions, because we believe that the arts are another way for students to showcase their talents. Our school offers an array of choices like drama, choir, photography, digital media design and art - with highly trained faculty who are deeply experienced in their particular field of expertise. One important objective of Escondido Charter High School is to support each student’s personal and intellectual growth as it influences his or her future college plans and career goals.
