Welcome to the Offering

Please consider this your personal invitation to join us for the 14th Annual “Buildin’ A Brand” production sale. This year will mark 24 years of having bred heifer production sales, which began in 2000 with Brad Hook and the “No Bull” Bred Female sale. Through all of these years, what we find to be most astonishing and humbling, is just how many customers and friends have attended and bought from many or most of these sales, and yet every year we are gratified to be greeted with more new faces along the way. We certainly appreciate the loyalty and enjoy the feedback and success stories from those that have purchased our genetics over the years. We are also grateful to each and every one of you for taking the time out of your extremely hectic schedules to come and evaluate our program! We fully understand that there are a multitude of other places that you could purchase your needs from. Our hope is that you find the genetics represented here, offer an opportunity for you to add value to your operation from a program that stands behind its product 100%. This year’s sale will have a little different tone for us than normal, as it will be the first time in 24 years that we don’t have Dad (Tim) here to help us navigate the process. He had fought numerous health issue’s over the past several year’s and on September 19, 2023 the Good Lord brought an end to his pain and suffering. That was undoubtedly, one of the toughest day’s our family has ever had to face. In an interesting turn of events, God had a Silver Lining in store later that day, for our “Extended Family” when a happy, healthy baby girl was born by the name of Maddox Ann Dwyer. Nick and Jennifer’s first born child. I believe Dad would have thought it was a good trade! Dad was a visionary in many ways, especially when it came to his insight into the cattle industry. He could see years ago that the big, tall, hard doing Simmentals were not the direction he felt the industry should go. He simply felt you couldn’t afford to feed them and looking back, he was right. He was not a fan of the “carcass” era cattle because, in his mind they were breeding the beef and the pay-weight product out of them. And again, he was right. With these things in mind we recognized, what we felt, was a need in the Simmental gene-pool for a more efficiently constructed, maternal oriented type female. A cow that would function and produce at an exceptional level under real world environmental factors. With this in mind we made a commitment to concentrate solely on producing and marketing highly maternal bred females, rather than fixating on the show heifer market as many respectable breeders have chosen to do. We appreciate the fact that our unwavering commitment to producing highly efficient, functional cattle that are productive, fertile, and long lasting, is able to be utilized outside of our operation. We concentrate very hard on building up from cow families that have these inherent traits deeply embedded in their heritage. It leads to a much higher degree of consistency in the success of generational progression. To further enhance our genetics we have been working diligently to isolate particular outliers within our gene pool that will consistently allow an advantage for the customers that require further growth and performance without effectively sacrificing that invaluable efficiency and capaciously big bodied design that we demand in order to produce cows that thrive on forage alone, without additional supplementation. Most importantly we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that helps us throughout the year. We are incredibly blessed with family, friends, and neighbors that work around here as needed. Many of you adjust your schedules at a moment’s notice to come help. Also, brother Eric for stopping whatever he’s working on, to get whatever I’ve broke, back up and running. We really, truly appreciate all that you do and could not do it without you! I’m not sure how to express just how truly grateful we are for all that our wives do for us. They cook all the meals for the crews that work around here, while raising the kids/grandkids and keep everything else in line (including us at times). We could not and would not do it without you! As Dad always said - “We don’t expect it, We appreciate it!” The Sandeen’s

People talk about “once in a lifetime” opportunities, and this is it. It has been decided that in honor of Dad, we are going to offer one-half embryo interest in the most impactful donor developed here during his tenure, Sandeen Donna 8302. Perhaps the most influential Donna female, ever to graze the hills of the Sandeen Ranch, since the matriarch that started the Donna Legacy for us, Sandeen Donna 8386. 8302 is a visibly impressive specimen indeed, but what’s more impressive is the resume she has assembled in just her few short years of production. To this point she has tallied a grand total of nearly $850,000 in offspring and embryo sales. Some of her highlights would include: The $200,000 Sandeen Donna 1142; The $140,000 Sandeen Donna 0470; The $81,000 Sandeen Donna 1717; The $55,000 Sandeen Donna 2302; The $40,000 Sandeen Warlord 2503; and The $38,000 Sandeen Lady 1024. Along with embryo’s topping several markets including the 2022 Canadian New Years Sale event at $4,850 per and the 2023 Denver “The One” Simmental sale at $3,300 per. The work is done here and the dye is cast, as we invite you to tie into a true breed Legend in the making, as she writes her own pages in the Simmental history books. The 8302 embryo mating’s being offered here are some of the most exciting we’ve made. The Next Level sire group has been on fire this fall with 11 daughters averaging just over $33,000 on the Boyert/Core female sale. The Bet On Red’s are undoubtedly one of the best sire groups this year at Sandeen Genetics. They tend to be consistently very sound and functional with a good look about them and are extremely capacious through the center portion of their body.

A truly stunning individual that will become an absolute show stopper as she matures. Near flawless in her structure, her type, and her kind. An exceptional phenotype, backed by a genetic culmination that will not allow for her to deviate from her highly maternal, highly functional roots. A truly unique consolidation with W/C Bet On Red, offering the very best from the Werning breeding program. Lining up, four times, the immortal Miss Werning U8543, and blending it with the bottom side of the pedigree, which hosts the very best amongst the legendary Donna cow family. A definite showpiece with the ultimate prepotency one could possibly expect.

We have been highly anticipating the Coleman Glacier offspring since we first learned of him, and the mating to 8302 had us especially excited. Reverting back to the halfblood, this mating lines up so many of the great Donna cows from both sides of the pedigree. What an incredible foundation breeding piece Sandeen Donna 3103 will be! However, She’s more than just intriguing on paper. She’s quite impressive on the hoof, being deep sided and angular in her overall design, and one that can only be fully appreciated when set into motion. An Excellent Sim/Angus show heifer candidate, but certainly a genetic masterpiece for those looking to move forward, a breeding program.

1142 - Maternal Sibling

8302 has quite possibly outdone herself this time! Sandeen Donna 1031 is as near to “The Ultimate” as we have ever produced, in terms of fusing a true structural elegance with, what we feel is the ideal amount of power that a female needs to possess in order to still be fertile and productive. 1031 definitely has the Presence and the Poise of one destined for greatness. A feat that her ancestors are not unaccustomed to. Past maternal sib sale features would include: Sandeen Donna 1142, the $200,000 high selling bred female in the 2022 Buildin’ A Brand sale; Sandeen Donna 0747, the high selling lot in the 2021 Buildin’ A Brand sale at $140,000; Sandeen Donna 1717, The $81,000 sale feature in the 2021 Buildin’ a Brand sale, along with a multitude of other high sellers and sale features. An incredibly potent genetic breeding piece from the W/C Relentless sire group that has consistently complimented the strongly embedded maternal traits of the Donna cow family.

Sandeen Donna 2021 is a striking specimen with an ironclad pedigree that has highlighted this event before. The Fort Knox cattle have worked extremely well for us here, with one of the favorites being a full sister to Donna 2021, Sandeen Donna 0747, which topped the 2021 Buildin’ A Brand sale at $140,000. The Fort Knox x 8302 combination tends to create offspring with a very calm demeanor, stunning good looks, and beyond adequate performance. This one has been a true stand out since she was quite young and does not appear to be letting up any time soon.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not normally fond of one with white socks, but when they’re built like this, I’ll make an exception and just breed them accordingly. She’s one that I have admired since she was a calf, for her three-dimensional build, her unique combination of performance and fleshing ability, and her overall broodiness. It would appear that the Wheatland breeding, coupled with the Donna influence is going to present her with a beautiful udder once she calves. A full brother, Sandeen War Lord 2503, topped the 2022 Buildin’ a Brand bull division at $40,000 and we certainly anticipate the type of females that he will produce. We also feel that her mating to Double Up should be near ideal for a first time heifer in order to produce the right kind. Some truly great genetics represented here, that need to be harnessed and utilized for the further progression of quality Simmental cattle.

Sandeen Donna 2345 is a phenotypically impressive, full sib to the $81,000 Sandeen Donna 1717, who was purchased and shown by the Mike Henderson family in 2021. This has been an exceptional mating that has also produced the $55,000 Sandeen Donna 2302 and the $38,000 Sandeen Donna 1024. Certainly, one that warrants great consideration on sale day.

A big, stout, strong aged heifer bred up early for a January Double Up calf. This Relentless X 8302 mating has consistently been very good. A full sister sold in the 2021 Buildin’ A Brand sale as a two month old calf, for $18,000. Another full sister, Sandeen Donna 1031, sells her as Lot 4, and she is incredibly good as well. This beautiful blaze face Donna female will definitely pay her way an offer some extremely potent breeding options as well. Past Sales Results... Over the year’s we have been very fortunate to offer many high sellers who have become cornerstone females for their new owners. But not every lot in this sale will be at the extreme end of the price spectrum. Since 2019 we have sold 265 Lots to average $8762. During that time period 48% of the offering has maintained a price point of $4,000 or below, per live animal. This lends cattle producers of all levels of the spectrum the opportunity to tie into these genetics at a price point comfortable for your operation and goals! This is one powerhouse Donor prospect! Her dam, Sandeen Donna 4232, was the $60,000 selection of Brandon Bird and Bill Fulton in a past Buildin’ A Brand sale. She was probably the stoutest of all the sisters of the infamous Lock N Load X Donna 8386 mating. A mating which also includes Sandeen Donna 8405, Sandeen Donna 5120 (dam of Sandeen Donna 8302), and Sandeen Donna 4325 (dam of SFIS Crystal Gayle). Power in the blood and on the hoof in this massively deep sided specimen. Truly a model if you were to draw an outline of the perfect cow. From her properly proportioned front one-third to the ideal set to her tailhead amongst her pin bones. Certainly a unique genetic bleeding that is very similar to the pedigree that produced the great SFIS Crystal Gayle cow.

This one is my kind of all day long! Medium framed, huge middled for a calf, and incredibly sound and flexible on the move, yet still maintains an attractive design through her front one-third. However, the most admirable aspect, from a breeding standpoint, is the fact that she will likely breed true-to-form, being backed by the highly predictable GCC Ms. Broker D198. Also, the fact that her flush mates each appear to be poured from the same mold, and are all very good in their own right. The D198 donor is no stranger to providing sale features for the “Buildin’ A Brand” events. In 2019 she produced a W/C Loaded Up son, Sandeen High Profile, that sold for $100,000. In 2021, her 1143Y daughters sold for $92,000, $11,000 and $9,500. The cow just seems to mate very well with many of the Lock N Load descendants, and the Bet On Red’s have emerged as some of the best to date. Buildin’ A Brand Production Sale | Page 13

This exquisitely designed red baldy female represents perfectly the high expectations we held for the inaugural crop of Wheatland Dimensional progeny. She culminates the sheer mass, power, width, substance of bone and unsurpassed foot quality of her sire, with the feminine, lady like elegance of her beautiful 1143Y dam, and couples that with the fault free structural integrity offered by both of her parent stock. The cow family behind 3471 is one, perhaps not of great distinction, but one that has earned a great deal of respect on this ranch, for their ability to do exactly what they are employed to do. It’s the maternal traits of fertility, udder quality, foot quality and longevity that her ancestor’s, the N Bar Emulation cattle, are world renown for. And those traits seem to be deeply embedded in these bloodlines. There’s a strong argument to be made, that the really good three-quarter bloods are the key element in making the great Purebreds, and we happen to be firm believers in this philosophy. These very good purebreds that we’re utilizing today. All derivatives of that very practice, which would lend to the idea that Sandeen Missie 3471 could be a rather important element to further progress. The quality assurance in the red segment of the Simmental industry.

Donor #: 3963159 ~ Remedy #: 3419044 Sandeen Donna 1316 made a great first impression with the public, when she sold in the 2021 Buildin’ a Brand sale, topping the open heifer division at $130,000. I’m not sure we’ve ever sold a female that has done such a phenomenal job at doing everything right in such a limited amount of time. From a phenotypic standpoint, her combination of power and elegance is unparalleled amongst her contemporaries. A still photo can simply not give justice to her three-dimensional build. She stands on a large, densely constructed, correctly shaped hoof and is stout, to say the least, in her skeletal design. She’s a wide muzzled, bold centered individual, with a wide pin set to match, yet is still as feminine through her neck and shoulder region as any female on the place. In coordination with her physical attributes, she also possesses a production record that tends to favor the theoretic relevance of the maternally productive design, which we deem so important. As a yearling heifer she settled first service and was then successfully IVF’d three times, averaging 45.3 oocytes per aspiration. Her Oocyte production has continued to increase with time and her fertilized embryos tend to provide an excellent conception rate. Most importantly her first crop of calves have arrived this fall at Ferguson Show Cattle and I’ve received reports from several different references that they are incredibly good, with some of the very top prospects being from the “Remedy” mating, represented here in this genetic offering.

Definitely a candidate to headline the Donor Arsenal of any progressive program. A truly outstanding individual that absolutely grabs your attention when you go to the bred heifer pasture. Probably THE most impressive, in terms of sheer mass and dimension, and that’s quite a bold statement considering her contemporaries. Donna 2937 brings a bit more growth but still most closely mirrors her dams incredible build and design. A Dam that has been a dominant producer of front-end sale features, such as the $130,000 Sandeen Donna 1316; The $80,000 Sandeen Donna 1249; The $55,000 Sandeen Donna 2607; and the $40,000 Sandeen Donna 1405.

What an opportunity to own a full sister to the $130,000 Sandeen Donna 1316 and $80,000 Sandeen Donna 1249. This one is somewhat unique, relative to her sisters, exhibiting a slightly more sleek and angular design, yet still maintains plenty of center dimension and a tremendous amount of chest capacity, which is a true trademark of the original Donna matriarchs. A beautiful female that holds a great deal of breeding potential.

Sandeen Loaded Lady 2625 is truly a genetic gem! She held the highly regarded “Lot 1” position in the 2022 “Buildin’ A Brand” sale, where she topped the open heifer division at $200,000. She is most definitely built the way we like them. Massively capacious through her rib cage with an angular design through her front one-third and that true wedge-shape that is evident in the most fertile and generative cow families. She derives from an abundantly productive line of cows we’ve developed here over the past few decades, that are notorious for the added shape, dimension and over all real-world performance they tend to offer. However, their most notable trait is the high degree of foot quality they consistently pass down through each generation. These traits are further ingrained by the sire of Loaded Lady 2625, Conley GCC Shocker C19. A bull that tends to consistently enhance many of the attributes that we deem important. This mating to Tecumseh should be spot on in terms of producing high quality, cutting edge genetics, while adding one more really good cow into the equation. The great HF Serena, raised by our good friends at Hobb’s Farms in Indiana.

8249 - $58K Maternal Sibling

Definite Donor Potential!!

One of my personal favorites in the entire offering. This one, in my opinion, is designed, built and bred to be a foundation Donor for a program looking to deeply embed the principles of “good stock” into their genetic base. She starts at the ground with probably the best feet in the pasture. She’s a wide-centered female with a three-dimensional design and flexibility second to none, relative to the amount of true product she brings to the table. As you’ve read through this catalog, I hope you’re garnered one thing about our program. That we not only want them good, we want them consistently good. We are not impressed with one great one out of a mating. We want an entire flush of really good, highly functional cattle. Cattle that can be the foundation for a program to build off of, without risk of fundamental issues, moving forward. Sandeen Loaded Lady 2618 exemplifies that in the utmost manor. Backed by a “no holes” type cow family that has been developed here over the past few decades. Known for their innate ability to provide exceptional early performance with sensible mature size and some of the best feet on the place. A full sister to 2618 was the $200,000 Sandeen Loaded Lady 2625, that topped the open heifer division of the 2022 Buildin’ A Brand sale and a maternal sister was a $58,000 sale feature in the 2019 Buildin’ A Brand sale. A very potent genetic breeding piece here sired by the great Shocker bull, that we have begun to utilize quite heavily in our operation.

Sandeen/Draper Lady 2344 offers an impressive demonstration of what these “Buildin’ A Brand” females can produce in their initial offspring. This is the first direct daughter of the featured, Sandeen Lady 0344 from the 2021 Buildin’ A Brand sale, that was undoubtedly a crowd favorite that year, and became one of the top selling lots at $92,000. To this point she seems to have accomplished the high expectations set for her at that time. These are genetics that tend to breed very true, tracing back to her highly proficient granddam, GCC Ms. Broker D198. 2344 is an exceptional individual in her own right. She brings an additional element of growth and overall horsepower to the equation, while maintaining that wedge shaped, highly maternal appearance that we really appreciated about her dam. Certainly, one of relevant qualifications to headline the donor arsenal of a progressive Simmental operation.

This is one powerful beast! Powerful in terms of her overall size, dimension, and skeletal stoutness. It’s no accident that she’s built this way. It’s the way her ancestors have been for generations. Her dam, Sandeen Lady A 9905, was the $53,000 selection of the Triple G Livestock in the 2020 Buildin’ A Brand. Her full sister commanded $48,000 in 2022, going to a forward-thinking operation headed by Menno Bontrager. Numerous others of her lineage have also highlighted past Buildin’ a Brand sales. This would likely indicate that these are some seriously potent genetics coursing through the veins of this burly individual, that will cause her to breed true-to-form in a very consistent manner. To add to the intrigue of this equation, she sells bred to the exciting new, herd sire for Triple G Livestock, which was the Lead off Turn Pike son in Werning Cattle Co.’s Production Sale, out of the beautiful red baldy donor that resides at Ferguson Show Cattle, W/C Miss Werning 6026D. Definite Donor Caliber! The lone Countertime entry in the offering, but one that certainly makes us want to use the bull harder. This has been one of the picks of the livestock judging teams that have been through this fall, and for good reason. If you’re a student of structure then this is undoubtedly one that must be appreciated. She’s burly in her construction with that wedge shaped, maternal design. Built from the ground up, with longevity in mind. A direct daughter of the influential 6761 donor who is a descendant of the historic Arnold Bros Fleckveih herd. Those cattle were originally built to pull the plow and when you study this female you can imagine the powerful ancestors from which she derives. Cattle that had to have feet, bone, muscle and structural integrity second to none. Those are the exact attributes that 6761 bring to the table. Past sale features from 6761 include: the $71,000 Sandeen Lady a 9056; The $53,000 Sandeen Lady A 9905; The $33,000 Sandeen Lady A 1831; and a granddaughter, Sandeen Lady A 1905 at $48,000. What an exceptional sale entry by the Speas Farms Inc, breeders of the great SFIS Crystal Gayle! This one is bred and built a little different than some of the others in the offering, yet certainly has her place. She’s an extremely hairy, stout boned female that would likely be great for show calf production. Her flush-mate sister has already been hanging banners for Andrew’s daughter the past few months. An interesting pedigree; SAM on a beautiful red baldy Loaded Up, back to a G- Broker female. Tracing eventually to the Everelda Entense cow family, originally developed in the great state of Montana.

A bigger outlined, wedge-shaped Shocker daughter with an intriguing genetic lineup on the bottom side. For those who enjoy studying pedigrees, Kappes Big Ticket is a Lock N Load son out of a full sister to the dam of Ruby’s Battle Cry (sire of Donna 8302). Beyond that is Coleman Donna 1273, a direct daughter of N Bar Emulation EXT x Coleman Donna 714. I would tend to believe this female would have to be a tremendous propagator of high quality stock once she gets into production. A maternal sister, Sandeen Donna 0460, sold for $20,000 in 2020 Buildin’ A Brand sale and her first daughter is currently lot 40 in the 2023 Buildin’ A Brand sale.

We seem to gain more respect and appreciation for the Lover Boy cattle with each progressing year. They are just simply “no holes” type cattle that start small at birth and will wean off with the very top end of the calf crop. They are very functional cattle with good feet and high degree of structural integrity. This description fits Donna 2506 perfectly. However, she’s further driven by the genetic contribution of her highly impactful granddam, Sandeen Donna 8386.

An exquisite example of a female built for longevity. She’s not the biggest, not the stoutest, not the most powerful. She’s the kind that lasts forever, always breeds on time, and will wean as heavy a calf as any cow in the pasture. This is a female that’s good on her feet and legs. Feminine up through her front one-third, with plenty of capacity, and is in the beginning stages of setting a beautiful udder. This one comes highly recommended and may even earn her way to the Donor pen one day.

$11K - Full Brother

2281 must really be studied in order for one to fully appreciate all that she has to offer. She’s a powerfully constructed female that is, undoubtedly one of the best 1143Y daughters we have ever offered through this program. I’m confident in her future productivity, not only because of her personal performance and phenotypic attributes, but because of the fact that she is backed by a dam that has earned our deep respect the old fashioned way, in the pasture. The 6281 cow is our top producing Charlo daughter and that’s quite a statement around here, as we are very fond of our Charlo cows. She’s a cow that has bred first service every year of her life, and always weans the heaviest calf in her contemporary group. All while staying fat of fescue with never a foot or udder problem. Last year she placed a full brother to 2281 in the Buildin’ a Brand sale where he topped the strong aged bull division at $11,000. 2281 offers precisely the type of rock solid foundation that we must build off of in order to consistently keep the “good” in the stock, regardless of the direction we strive for as an end goal!

Recorded over 500 progeny registered to date 1143Y Udder W/C Lock N Load 1143Y is a bull that will go down to be thought of as a Legend around here, for the great daughters he has left us. After 12 years of service, he has gone on to greener pastures. He has left us with a very limited semen bank of less than 500 total units. We felt it only fitting to offer 100 units in this sale, to the crowd that appreciated his contributions the most. We said for a long time that 1143Y was, perhaps the most under utilized bull in the Simmental breed. However, as time has progressed many of his daughters have become crowd favorites in the sale and are now highly appreciated and even sought after for their functional, maternal, attractive design. We believe he is the single greatest sire we ever used at Sandeen Genetics, for producing true foundation females that are fundamentally sound and the right kind to breed up from. They are the truest and purest definition of “good stock”. No feet or udder or structural issues. Just good solid, functional cattle that get the job done and look good doing it. Some of the 1143Y progeny that have been featured in past Buildin’ a Brand sales would include: Sandeen Lady 0344 @ $92,000; Sandeen G-Lady 1507 @ $50,000; Sandeen Donna 1421 @ $21,000; and Sandeen Lady 1499 @ $14,000.

2503 - Full Brother

When Wheatland Man O War initially came on the scene, he hit us really hard as a bull that we wanted to utilize in our program. The first donor that came to mind to mate him to was Sandeen Donna 8302. This has been an excellent flush of good, solid, densely constructed cattle, with the first individual from the flush being offered last year in the Sandeen War Lord 2503. He garnered a price tag of $40,000, going to Ferguson Show Cattle. This is the more moderate framed, ruggedly designed brother with exceptionally good feet, ample bone, and a great disposition. We thought enough of this bull that we used him on a few cows this past spring. Our only reason for not keeping him is that we are so saturated with Donna Cows, we wouldn’t be able to utilize him to his full potential. 2326 is homo. black and homo. polled and is definitely of the caliber that could be utilized in a seedstock operation, looking to add one of the very few Donna 8302 sons ever to be offered.

This would be an excellent set of strong aged brothers to stay together and go on a set of straight black cows. Imagine the set of black baldy heifer calves that would come off of that deal. They would definitely be worth a premium and may even outsell their steer mates.

Sandeen Donna 8410

This could very well be the replacement for 1143Y! Nearly identical calving ease numbers with a slight advantage in the growth department. His dam, Sandeen Donna 8410, is a maternal sister to Sandeen Donna 8302. She was the $40,000 selection of Swaim Farms in the 2019 sale and was one incredibly impressive beast. A tremendous amount of genetic merit and breeding potential in the 2410 bull!

In Rememberance of Tim Sandeen They say every farmer has 40 seasons to make an impact in their lifetime and Tim Sandeen made the most out of each and every year. Tim was a friend to everyone who he met and had one of the kindest most giving hearts. Tim was one of the rare class who truly tried to better everyone he came into contact with. His legacy lives on through his children, grand children, and the cattle he left behind. Over the years Tim was a part of so many great Sires & Dams in the Simmental Industry and was instrumental in developing the “Sandeen Brand” of Simmentals. For those who have followed this program closely for the past four decades you have seen the development of a different style of Simmental female. One who comes with added power, dimension, and real world capacity that embodies the term “Maternal”. This creation was due to Scott & Tim’s diligence in mating cattle for a specific purpose and their ability to stay away from chasing fads to create their own style of cattle. It’s easy to look at this year’s sale book and see the quality but as you look back through the years and study the transformation of breeding up highly maternal and powerful Angus & Fleckvieh to a purebred Simmental form is no easy job. The foresight and ability to stay true to the process is a strong part of the legacy that Tim Sandeen left for each of us to enjoy for seasons to come in our own pursuit perfection within this industry. It is a testament to the breeding ability and foresight implemented by Scott & Tim that allows each of us to reap the rewards of their diligence in this offering. I often remember Tim telling me year after the year it doesn’t cost any more to feed a good one than it does a bad one and I personally try to live by that motto to this day.
