Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Ed's early years were spent under the care of his grandparents and various aunts and uncles while his parents established themselves in the United States. This separation instilled in him a sense of independence and adaptability, which have become cornerstones of his personal and professional life. Ed relocated to the United States at seven, initially living in Chicago. He later moved to the northern suburbs and attended New Trier High School. During his time there, he was deeply engaged in team sports, including basketball and baseball, which taught him the importance of teamwork, the impact of individual personalities on collective success, and the critical role of culture in surpassing mere talent. Ed's academic path led him to the University of Pennsylvania, where he attended the Wharton School of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences. He pursued dual degrees in finance and psychology, emphasizing microeconomics and human behavior.
