Springboard English Program The Springboard English Program is a non-credit, intensive social language foundations program for young adults and adult learners in life and work skills development. The program has English as its mainstream communication context and aims at developing language proficiency in linguistics skills, grammar, vocabulary, culture and pronunciation. The program sets basis for students to further education in the different English for Specific Purposes programs offered at Keiser University-International Language Institute by ensuring the achievement of intermediate level of language proficiency by the end of the program. The program structure is of six levels of 140 hours each for a total of 700 hours of class instruction.

Outcomes 1. Learners will be able to initiate, sustain, and bring to an end a variety of communicative tasks. 2. Learners will be able to convey meaning with a wide scope of language strategies to complicated or unforeseen turn of events. 3. Learners will be able to write about a variety of topics with substantial accuracy and detail. 4. Learners will be able to understand main ideas and most details of connected discourse on a variety of topics beyond the immediate situation. 5. Learners will be able to read longer prose particularly if presented with a clear underlying structure.

English for Practical Communication

The English for Practical Communication Program is a 12-level program geared to adult professionals interested in learning to communicate fluently and with confidence in work scenarios. Also the program guides learners to perform efficiently in common in everyday situations. It comprises a total of 720 hours.

Outcomes 1. Learners will be able to communicate at an upper-intermediate level when graduating from the program. 2. Learners will use language to perform in everyday situations of work and life settings. 3. Learners will practice and develop the four skills: speaking, listening, writing and reading. Culture, pronunciation and grammar are studied comprehensively.

Academic English Program The Academic English Program is an intensive, nine-month program designed to prepare its participants for success in any English-language institution of higher education. The program is content-based, emphasizing linguistic, academic and cultural competence. It comprises a total of 1260 hours of instruction.

Outcomes 1. Learners will apply test-taking skills for the TOEFL. 2. Learners will be able to participate in extracurricular activities such as field trips, community service, guest lectures, and visits to college classes using the language effectively. 3. Learners will be able to use multimedia programs, instruction on the application of the Internet in higher education, as well as speech and note-taking practice which further enhance the learning experience.

English for Professional Development Program

The English for Professional Development Program is designed for participants, professionals of different fields, to communicate in everyday job-related situations in their scope of work. The program aims at achieving higher level of proficiency in the English language. It consists in 14 levels and 700 hours of instruction. The advanced levels aim at further developing learners conversation skills.

Outcomes 1. Learners will be able to discuss topics related to business, negotiation, dealing with conflict, customer service, business presentations business across cultures among others. 2. Learners will be able to communicate effectively in both social and work related context. 3. Learners will be able to interact in different work related settings, congruent to their field of work. 4. Learners upon completion of the course will be able to perform efficiently and competitively at work.

English as a Foreign Language Program

The English as a Foreign Language Program aims at developing social communication in children, teenagers and adult students who want to learn the language to communicate in every-day settings. It is content-based, integrative skills, proficiency oriented and set according to age groups. The program comprises 750 hours of instruction divided in 15 levels.

Outcomes 1. Learners will be able to use the language tools and skills necessary to perform well in different every-day situations. 2. Learners will be able to communicate at the intermediate level upon graduation from the program. 3. Learners will use the language effective and efficiently in their jobs or school according to the context.

Call Center Program The call center program aims at prepare call center applicants with the language skills such as communicative competence, increase fluidity with the language and practice American Standard pronunciation needed to work in the BPO industry.

Outcomes 1. Learners will be able to communicate fluently after finishing the program. 2. Learners will be able to use Call Center vocabulary in a conversation with a customer. 3. Learners will be able to implement effective customer service technics.

English Language Training

It is a teacher training course for native and non- native speakers of English, who need instruction in methodology, pedagogy, and teaching and learning philosophies to perform as English instructors for Keiser University International Language Institute programs, the Ministry of Education or any other institution that offers English courses in Nicaragua.

Outcomes 1. The new English teacher will draw from the essentials in terms of conceptual background, theory, formal instruction, classroom observations, and classroom practice. 2. The new instructors will teach English with solid language foundations, and prepare future students to face the challenges of using the language in life-like settings. 3. The new teachers will be prepared to provide English language learners with the linguistic tools and skills necessary to appropriately perform in different fields and become a factor of change in their communities.

English for Tourism and Hospitality

English for Tourism and Hospitality is an non-credit Certificate program in the area of tourism. This program is designed for young adults who want to pursue a career in the field of Hospitality and Tourism and need to have English proficiency to be successful professionals. The program provides ample opportunity to interact, discuss, and practice English in the environment of the hospitality, travel and tourism industry. It is highly participatory, and connected with technology. The program structure is of five modules of 80 hours each for a total of 400 class hours.

Outcomes 1. Learners will be able to communicate fluently both written and orally in different areas of the field such as hotel and restaurant services, business travel, business meetings and planning, public speaking, and more. 2. Learners will be able to use the jargon and incursion in the culture of service by the use of authentic materials, dynamic hands-on activities, and online re-enforcement of the language. 3. Learners will be able to communicate at the High intermediate level of proficiency both in social context and in the tourism and hospitality context.

Spanish as a Second Language The Spanish as a Second Language is a non-credit, semi-intensive language Program designed for non-native speakers of Spanish who wish to learn the language to perform in social and work context. It is content-based, integrative skills, and proficiency oriented. The main goal of the program is to develop language skills and abilities that contribute to fluent oral and written communication. The program is divided into 8 levels and comprises 400 hours of class instruction.

Outcomes 1. Learners will be able to communicate fluently and effectively in different work and social situations at the high intermediate level of proficiency. 2. Learners will be able to integrate cultural and idiosyncratic features of the language into the social conventions of conversation in every day settings. 3. Learners will be able to write longer texts in the language fit to their needs either at work or in everyday situations.
