Eca Is The Hub Of Construction Excellence

Advancing the construction industry in Edmonton means bringing stakeholders together to build strong relationships and work out common-good solutions. Contractors, trades, designers, engineers, suppliers, owners, and service providers. Everybody together in one place – speaking to one another – building the relationships and solutions that lead to exceptional construction. That’s what we mean when we describe ECA as the Hub of Construction Excellence.

ECA Infrastructure Forums and Breakfasts, Meet and Greets, meetings with public and private owners, cooperation with BuildWorks Canada and partner industry associations, and the YBG group are just a few of the ways that ECA works on your behalf to support the face-to-face relationships that are key to a vibrant future for construction in Alberta.

As an ECA member, you are also a member of the Alberta Construction Association (ACA) and the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). As such, your business interests are advanced locally, provincially, and nationally as we work with all levels of government. We have highly engaged relationships with Alberta Infrastructure, City of Edmonton, regional municipalities, the University of Alberta, school boards, Defense Construction Canada, and all publicly-tendered construction authorities.

We also work closely with all construction stakeholder groups and associations, including the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA), Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), Consulting Architects of Alberta (CAA), Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA), Alberta Roadbuilders & Heavy Construction Association (ARHCA), BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), NAIOP, and over 40 trade associations.

Eca Members Make Industry Connections

Construction is an industry built on relationships, and ECA is the hub where all industry stakeholders – contractors, trades, designers, engineers, suppliers, owners, and other service providers – build the relationships that lead to exceptional construction. These days, telephone calls and face-to-face meetings can be replaced by an impersonal text or email. But our industry is one of relationships, where business is still conducted in person with a smile and a handshake, or over a friendly meal or game of golf.

To create opportunities for personal connection, the ECA presents dozens of businessenhancing events every year. These include our Infrastructure Productivity Forum, Builders Connect Luncheon, Meet and Greets, Golf Tournaments, Summer BBQs, and info sessions with municipalities, Alberta Infrastructure, and other Owner groups. You’ll find additional opportunities for connection through ECA Education events, the Professional Estimating Group (PEG), and the YBG (Young Builders Group).

Ybg Is The Future

Formed in 2014 as the “ECA Young Builders Group,” the YBG has become the gathering place for emerging leaders in every construction sector – not only contractors and trades, but designers, engineers, owners, and other stakeholders. Made up of emerging leaders in the first half of their construction careers, the YBG deepens industry connections, provides educational and mentorship opportunities, and gives back to the broader community.

A healthy and connected YBG means a healthy, connected future for construction in Alberta. Participation is open to all ECA members as part of their membership, and isn’t about being young. If you’re an ambitious, creative leader in the first half of your construction career, the YBG is for you. Learn more at edmca.com/ybg
