2021 ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce recently hosted the 2021 Annual Awards Banquet to honor individuals, volunteers, sponsors, and local businesses whose civic and professional contributions make an impact on the Edmond community. The formal awards were presented at the banquet on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Edmond Conference Center.

Nominations for each award were submitted in November 2021, and the winners were determined by multiple committees of Chamber members and volunteers.

“Edmond is fortunate to have citizens who go above and beyond for the community,” said Edmond Chamber President and CEO Sherry Jordan. “We are thrilled to recognize these individuals and businesses who have made a difference in our city.”

Several awards were given out, including Citizens Bank of Edmond Citizen of the Year, Prosperity Bank Woman of the Year, First United Bank Small Business of the Year, RCB Bank Philanthropic Business of the Year, Integris Health Edmond Volunteer of the Year, Mercy Ambassador of the Year, OU Health Edmond Young Professional of the Year and the Chairman’s Award.

Outgoing Chairman of the Board Jim Denton with Arlegde & Associates, PC, was recognized for his outstanding leadership and H.J. Reed, Phillips 66, retired, was installed as 2022 Chairman of the Board.

2021 ANNUAL AWARD WINNERS

CITZENS BANK OF EDMOND CITIZENS OF THE YEAR GREG & DARCI OPLOTNIK

Greg and Darci Oplotnik have been married and residing in Edmond for 27 years. They are blessed with two children. Jaci, 22, will graduate from the OUHSC nursing program in May 2022 and Jackson is a sophomore attending and wrestling at the University of Oklahoma.

In 2003 the Oplotnik family became foster parents, fostering 12 children from 2004-2009. In 2009 Darci became a board member of Anna’s House Foundation (AHF), a private foster care non-profit located in Edmond whose mission is to provide stable loving homes to Oklahoma children in the foster care system. She served as executive director of AHF from 2012-2017 and currently serves as a board member.

Cristi joined Edmond Mobile Meals in December 2013 as the Assistant Director and became the Executive Director in May 2016. Cristi has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma and an M.B.A. with High Honors and a specialization in marketing from Oklahoma City University. During most of her career Cristi has worked for large advertising agencies in Dallas and Kansas City, as well as serving as the marketing specialist for Metro Technology Centers in Oklahoma City. She draws from her expertise in relationship building, marketing, and public relations to help make Edmond Mobile Meals a model of community engagement, volunteer management, and client satisfaction for Meals on Wheels organizations nationwide.

RCB BANK PHILANTHROPIC BUSINESS OF THE YEAR MOORE QUALITY HOMES

Since creating Moore Quality Homes in 2017, Josh Moore has committed to serving the Edmond community in more ways than one. Moore Quality Homes has taken time away from business to allow Josh to serve as Ward 2 Edmond City Council member and to support organizations of all shapes and sizes in Edmond. They support Edmond Public Schools, Edmond Youth Athletics, the Edmond YMCA, the annual Edmond Turkey Trot, Turning Point Ministries, the Metro Library Association, Arcadia Lake, Edmond Mobile Meals, and the Downtown Edmond Business Association.

BeSpoke Vision is owned by Dr. Selina McGee. They have been in business since 2013 and specialize in eye exams, specialty contacts, and luxury eyewear. Formerly Precision Vision Edmond, BeSpoke Vision was established in 2021 when they moved into their beautiful new facility located on Covell. Their practice was founded on the premise that “Vision is Everything,” and that still holds true. BeSpoke Vision speaks to the quality and custom experience they have always offered and will continue to build upon that.

MERCY AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR STACIE PETERSON

Stacie Peterson is the co-owner of Paragon Homes and Remodeling. Paragon Homes and Remodeling has been a member of the Edmond Chamber since 2018. Since then, Stacie has been an active member of the Ambassador Council. She is also involved in the Small Business Owner’s Alliance and Government Relations Council. In 2021, she was a celebrity dancer for Edmond’s Dancing with the Stars event. Stacie is also a Leadership Edmond graduate of Class 34. On top of her involvement in the Edmond Chamber, Stacie Peterson is also the Edmond Councilwoman for Ward 4.

Evan Comer is a business advocate for Beyond Payment Solutions and has been an active supporter and volunteer for the Edmond Chamber for many years. He has served as the Ambassador Chairman for the last two years. In 2021, he was one of the celebrity dancers for the 2021 Edmond’s Dancing with the Stars event to raise money for the Edmond Chamber. He attends a countless number of ribbon cuttings and events to support the Chamber.

Evan is awesome to work with and always goes above and beyond what is asked of him. The Edmond Chamber is thankful for Evan’s time and effort over the years and are thrilled to honor Evan for his hard work.

OU HEALTH EDMOND YOUNG PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR JESSICA LYLE

Jessica Lyle was with the City of Edmond from 2010 to 2022 and served as the community program manager for Edmond Electric. She received her B.A. in Marketing from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Jessica has served on several boards and was involved in The Rotary Club of Edmond, where she served as president. She was also very engaged in the Edmond Chamber of Commerce, where she was an ambassador and served on several committees, which include the steering committee for Youth Leadership Edmond, Small Business Council, Women’s Network Council, Government Relations Council and Edmond Young Professionals.

CHAIRMAN’S AWARD SHERRY JORDAN

Sherry Jordan is the President and Chief Executive Officer for the Edmond Chamber of Commerce. She was promoted to this position in September 2016 and has served in several roles during her 18 years at the Edmond Chamber.

Sherry is an alumnus of the University of Oklahoma and has been a certified public accountant for over 25 years. She was named as one of the 50 Women Making a Difference in Oklahoma by The Journal Record in 2017. Sherry joined he Edmond Women’s Club in 2005 and celebrated her 10th anniversary with the club by serving as its 33rd president in 2016. In 2015 Sherry was named as the Outstanding Chamber Leader of the Year by the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Executives. In 2007 Sherry was honored as one of the top 100 influential women in the history of the City of Edmond.
