A LOOK INTO THE BESPOKE VISION EXPERIENCE
BESPOKE VISION NAMED 2021 SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR A LOOK INTO THE BESPOKE VISION EXPERIENCE
When you step inside the doors of BeSpoke Vision’s brand-new building, you are greeted with a friendly smile from the front desk. It’s easy to see the time and effort they have put into creating a culture of serving their customer’s needs on an individual basis. Formerly Precision Vision Edmond, Dr. Selina McGee rebranded her practice to BeSpoke Vision when they moved into their new building in 2021. The new name reflects the very idea of their brand and what they do for their patients, offering custom, specialized care. If you were to look up the definition of bespoke, you would find the meaning of the word is custom made or made for a particular customer or user. means to most people is that they are going to have their vision tested, but there’s so much more,” said Dr. McGee. “When you look inside the eye, that’s the only place you can see intact blood vessels. We’re looking for 270 different systemic diseases that you can diagnose through an eye exam. That could be diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a lot of things that people don’t think about, such as, skin cancer on the eyelids and a lot of different health problems that we access during our exams. There’s a small part of an eye exam that is vision, the rest of it is truly overall eye health.”

Of course, with a brand-new building comes a new, gorgeous retail boutique offering carefully curated frames. The idea behind the hand-crafted boutique
is to provide selections to customers that no other optometrists carry in the state of Oklahoma. BeSpoke Vision has a team of opticians that assist customers with selecting custom eyeglasses, sunglasses, and eyewear to meet customer’s lifestyle needs and satisfy their fashion sense. This is just one small glimpse into the “BeSpoke Experience,” a term coined by the BeSpoke staff.
Another part of the BeSpoke Experience is not only what they do for their patients, but also the culture they have created within their practice for those that work at BeSpoke. When asked the question, “What makes BeSpoke Vision a great place to work?” Dr. McGee responded with an enthusiastic, “It’s the team! We are intentional about hiring, training, coaching, and building our team. Leveraging strengths, focusing on communication, and designing our culture equals what we believe is a winning combination.”
There are 15 people on the BeSpoke team and each employee participates in annual goal setting workshops and professional development opportunities to further their growth personally and professionally. “We very much believe in investing in our team, which is going to translate into what we do for our patients,” said Dr. McGee. BeSpoke offers general optometry and comprehensive eye exams to both children and adults as well as specialty and custom contact lenses. The BeSpoke team specializes in anterior segment diseases, which affect the front of the eye and include dry eye syndrome. Dr. McGee is a pioneer in the industry and serves on several boards, including the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, Board of Examiners in Optometry, and the Intrepid Eye Society.
BeSpoke is on the forefront of offering new technology to their patients to better serve their needs. “Our practice offers technology and services that are not found elsewhere in Oklahoma,” said Dr. McGee. Her desire is to elevate optometry in every possible way. She teaches these techniques and management styles to doctors nationally and internationally. “Delivering eye exams with the best technology and building relationships with our patients is the reflection of that hard work,” said Dr. McGee. “BeSpoke has taken every step possible to increase the level of care and options for our patients. I have always had this deep, burning desire in whatever I was doing, to make it better for everyone. I don’t really know where that comes from, it’s just something that’s fundamental.”
We hope our message is heard so we can create and build strong “ relationships with new people for many years to come. ”
The BeSpoke Vision team not only cares for their patients, but also cares for the local Edmond community. Dr. Selina McGee serves on several Edmond boards and committees and has a strong sense of giving back to the community. One of the most significant challenges that BeSpoke Vision has faced was having to close the office for a 6-week period during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’ve seen that in the past couple of years with everything that has transpired and moving forward from that, you must be very intentional with your time and community engagement,” said Dr. McGee. “In that time, we focused on emergency care, contact lenses and glasses. We took the rest of the time to take a step back and reassess what was working in our clinic and what wasn’t. Sight is incredibly essential to the Edmond community, and we are able to better serve our patients after that experience.”
