2022 Awards Banquet The Voice - Spring 2023

AWARDS BANQUET

The Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce recently hosted the 2022 Annual Awards Banquet to honor individuals, volunteers, sponsors, and local businesses whose civic and professional contributions make an impact on the Edmond community.

Nominations for each award were submitted in November 2022, and the winners were determined by multiple committees of Chamber members and volunteers.

“Edmond is fortunate to have citizens who go above and beyond for the community,” said Edmond Chamber President and CEO Sherry Jordan. “We are thrilled to recognize these individuals and businesses who have made a difference in our city.”

Several awards were given out, including Citizens Bank of Edmond Citizen of the Year, Prosperity Bank Woman of the Year, First United Bank Small Business of the Year, RCB Bank Philanthropic Business of the Year, Integris Health Edmond Volunteer of the Year, Mercy Ambassador of the Year, OU Health Edmond Young Professional of the Year, and TFCU Non Profit of the Year.

Congratulations to all of the 2022 award winners and a big thank you to those who supported and attended the event.

2022 ANNUAL

AWARD WINNERS

BILL & CINDY STEWART

Cindy and Bill Stewart have been cornerstones of the Edmond community for nearly four decades through their support of numerous charitable organizations and their business leadership. Their local business, Petra Industries, has grown into one of the largest employers in the area and beyond the economic impact, it focuses on community outreach through volunteerism and charitable giving.

Petra has raised over $1 million for well-deserving charities. The Stewarts are also investing in the future of our community through the Gabe Stewart Memorial Endowment for Oklahoma Christian Schools and the Stewart Family Power of Purpose. These foundations have helped fund the school’s new performing art center, providing better educational opportunities, and expanding faith-based resources for generations of children throughout Edmond.

Citizens Bank of Edmond Citizens of the Year

KEISHA JACKSON

Keisha Jackson is the Owner and CEO of Humanity Hospice, L.L.C.. She has worked in the health care field for nearly 34 years. She has worked as an aide, nurse, Administrator, Director, Owner/CEO specializing in end-of-life care. She is a wife and mom to two boys.

Over the last 9 years of owning her own company, she has implemented Tribal Leadership to her business model and culture. In addition, Keisha has worked with her staff to develop a grief camp for children ages 6 to 18 years old, which provides music and art therapy to teach children healthy ways to grieve with loss.

The health care industry being primarily women, Keisha promotes and teaches professional development to empower women to take charge of their lives and to “own” their efforts and outcomes for their futures.

Prosperity Bank Woman of the Year

BONDI BOWLS

Bondi Bowls is named after the iconic Bondi Beach located in Sydney, Australia. It is known for its record breaking surf, hip cafes, and iceberg pool. Founder Bailey Wilson, lived in Sydney and started her day admiring the beauty of Bondi Beach.

Originally an Edmond native, Bailey moved back home in March of 2020. During the peak of COVID-19, she discovered a new passion of making acai bowls which has grown into 17 franchises, and 1 store front over 7 states.

Bondi Bowls’ mission is bigger than just serving clean and healthy meals. They desire to create community and encourage God-honoring conversation. Each truck gives in different ways, with their main focus being foster and adoption non-profits, along with local business and organizations for give back events.

Edmond Music is a family owned local music store serving the greater Oklahoma City area for more than forty years. Their knowledgeable staff works to bring you the best in musical instruments and service at the most competitive prices.

First United Bank Small Business of the Year

DARLA HALL

Darla Hall has been active with the Edmond Chamber for the past three years on the Ambassador Council. She attends numerous Chamber events throughout the year. She is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City Class XVII and Leadership Edmond Class 36.

During her Leadership Edmond year, she served as Intern Board Member for the Edmond Rotary Club as well as Peaceful Family Oklahoma. She is an active volunteer for Edmond Mobile Meals and Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma, and serves on the Women In Banking Committee for the Oklahoma Bankers Association.

Darla has worked in the banking industry for over 25 years and is currently Vice President/Director of Business Development for Regent Bank with a primary focus on the nonprofit and cannabis industries.

Mercy Ambassador of the Year

ANGIE CLEMENS-BYERS

As an active member and avid supporter of Edmond for 25 years, Angie Clemens-Byers sees volunteerism as an integral part of community life. She currently works at First United Bank as the Market Outreach and Community Lending Officer.

A mom to two young men, Tallon and Corbin, she wants to set an example of servant leadership to leave every space “better than we found it”. She is a Scout Leader for their BSA unit and a member of Edmond Women’s Club. Angie is also a graduate of Leadership Edmond Class 36.

Through the Edmond Chamber, Angie is part of the Women’s Council, Government Relations Council, Small Business Owners Alliance, Special Events Committee and also serves as the Ambassador Council Chairwoman.

Integris Health Edmond Volunteer of the Year

SAVANNAH WHITEHEAD

Savannah Whitehead was born and raised in Abilene, Texas. In 2012, she took the leap and moved to Stillwater, OK to attend Oklahoma State University where she graduated in 2016 with a BA in Art History and a Minor in Philosophy. Following graduation, she was hired by the Edmond Chamber of Commerce as the Event Coordinator. A few years later, she left to accept her “dream job” as the Program Director at the Edmond Fine Arts Institute. Since joining FAI Savannah has been a part of amazing projects and community initiatives.

Her favorite and largest endeavor is VIBES Edmond’s First Thursdays. Savannah is proud of recent achievements and opportunities including receiving the 2021 ULI Impact Award for Outstanding Community Building Initiative for VIBES, being selected as a “rookie” muralist to participate in the Sunny Dayz Mural Festival in August 2022, and most recently being asked to be a Judge for Oklahoma State University’s 2022 Homecoming.

EDMOND WOMEN’S CLUB

Edmond Women’s Club (EWC) is a volunteer organization composed of community-spirited women who have combined their talents to promote the cultural, civic, educational, and community efforts of the City of Edmond. EWC provides unique opportunities for its membership to assist their community in financial and voluntary ways, to expand their abilities to best serve their community, and to experience fellowship with one another.

It began as an idea… a thought… a conversation between friends: Edmond women volunteering, serving, promoting the cultural, civic, educational and social activities for the City of Edmond.

In 2023, EWC is celebrating its 40 year anniversary. Over this time the club has presented over $2,000,000 in grants and scholarships to the Edmond community.
