Edmond North High School concluded its BALTO campaign Feb. 18, raising nearly $200,000 for Generation Why! The funds raised will help Generation Why develop and implement a school curriculum to help students across the country who are struggling with mental illness. Thank you students for shining your lights and for bringing hope and kindness to your community. Congratulations to everyone involved! The school held a significant amount of activities to help raise the money for the group. That include a golf tournmanment, silent auction and the BALTO 5K run earlier this month at Mitch Park. BALTO, standing for Bring A Light

To Others is the school’s annual philanthropy week at Edmond North. Since its origin in 1995, BALTO has raised over 4 million dollars for charities serving all kinds of needs. We have helped charities serving child cancer victims, brain tumor patients, special education students, premature babies, and several other worthy causes. This magnificent event enables our whole student body and the community of Edmond to come together to work towards the goal of helping others. Generation Why is a group which reaches out to young people. In 2017 there was a significant growth in deaths by youth in Oklahoma City which is the base of Generation Why, and it has inspired the team to get heavily involved. The group’s pas-

sion is to reach every generation into discovering its WHY, and providing opportunities to pursue it. Since launching in 2017, Generation Why has taken the message of hope and purpose to over 100 schools and variety of other special events. In 2019 Generation Why was booked for weekly events such Summer Camps, conferences, and STUCO/FCCLA conventions. In 2020 we faced issues that arose with the pandemic but found a way to still impact thousands of students. Producing a high quality Virtual Assembly, Generation Why met their goal of reaching 25 schools in the fall of 2020. Incorporating the virtual assembly alongside of social medial platforms, Generation Why found a way to impact lives despite school closings and the global pandemic.
