SUNDAY SCHOOL SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD BRILL CHAPEL 9:30 AM Genesis 2:8-24, Genesis 4:1, 2 FROM MATRIMONY TO MULTIPLICATION Few occasions in life bring as much joy and hope as a wedding. Though unmarried himself, writer Doug Redford has officiated five weddings. With a close-up view, the sense of wonder, love, and anticipation is palpable. In these extraordinary moments, bride and groom become a new family; and in most weddings the potential for children to expand the family only enhances the excitement. God commanded humankind to “be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth” (Genesis 1:28), and by all indications people have accepted the challenge. After topping 1 billion sometime in the early 1800's, the human population has risen seven times that amount in the ensuing 200 years. According to the 2015 United Nations' official projections, the world population will grow to 8.5 billion in 2030 and 9.7 billion in 2050. If he had so chosen, God could have created billions of people to fill the earth from the start. But his mode of operation is to use human beings to partner in his plans. So in remote antiquity, God created a man and a woman. The result was a family to get those plans going. This week's lesson continues our study of God's creative work in the early chapters of Genesis, Jim West will lead this interesting lesson. Come early to hear our own Fretta Moore bless us with her piano mastery of the hymns at 9:15am.

HOLIDAY GIFT CAMPAIGN IS UNDERWAY The mount of money on hand at this time is nearly $20,000, leaving $55,000 to be contributed by November 30th. As important as our $75,000 goal is, the goal of 100% participation by Independent Living residents is just as important. At this point we are at 35%, but we believe the letter that everyone received along with a convenient return envelope will help this percentage to rise quickly. Letters have also been distributed to residents in Assisted Living as well as the Long-Term Care Households. Posters indicating the status of the campaign will go up soon along with photos of our staff. Notices will be on EVTV and new residents will be contacted. In other words, the committee is actively at work to see that our Epworth Villa employees will have a Holiday Gift that reflects the sincere appreciation we all have for them. Please give generously. Donations may be placed in the Lambert’s box #326. Thank you. Jimette McLean, Holiday Gift Adhoc Committee. 7

Sunday, SEPTEMBER 30th at 4:30 pm in the Brill Chapel. Everyone welcome!! YAPPY HOUR A SUCCESS!! The marketing Team would like to thank our Residents that came out to Yappy Hour and especially those who brought guests! The weather cooperated and it was a beautiful night. AND there was no growling or barking!! All of the dogs got along great It was amazing! The purpose of Yappy Hour is twofold. First, it gives our Residents an opportunity to socialize regardless if you have a dog or not. It also gives our Residents’ pets an opportunity to play freely off of a leash. Secondly, there are many potential residents out there that will not move unless they can bring their pet. By marketing to those folks, we are letting them know that Epworth Villa is pet friendly. Won’t you join us and invite a friend to the next Yappy Hour? It will be held October 30th with a “Pet Costume Contest.” It promises to be a fun time! 11
