during the ac and ox ation’s eneral lection held aturday, Aug. 31, 2019. Abney defeated Angela Gasper by a vote of 125 to 117 in the tight race for econd hief. Williamson defeated challenger Channa L. Tiger by a vote of 146 to 96. U nopposed candidates for seats on the Grievance Committee were Krishna B ear and Dee Manatowa. The two tribal leaders took oaths of office during an installation ceremony conducted ept. by newly-installed ac and ox ation istrict udge Gregory B igler. The installation was conducted in the courtroom of the ac and ox ation ustice Center. The ceremony was attended by the tribal leaders’ friends, family members, fellow B usiness Committee members Principal hief ustin ood, ecretary acklyn ing, Treasurer ared ing, outgoing econd Chief Audrey Rose Lee, former members of the B usiness Committee and several current employees of the ac and ox ation. A reception followed in
the ustice enter lobby. Former B usiness Committee members in attendance included tella ullake, andle arter,

Chief ustin Freeland Wood’s Address to the Nation
Thank you for an outstanding Governing Council. We began on time and treated each other with respect and understanding. I appreciate the incredible turnout and participation from our tribal members. I would like to personally thank the veterans and honor guard for their presence throughout the entire meeting. To our cooks and elders, I thank you for your dedication. I left the meeting encouraged about the future of our people.
I want to thank Audrey Rose ee, our outgoing econd hief, for her two years of service on the B usiness Committee. There are few people I know who love the ac and ox ation as much as Audrey. Congratulations to our new econd hief on Abney and our re-elected Committee Member Robert Williamson. Thank you to everyone who turned out to vote in the 2019 General Election. Our new B usiness

Jim Thorpe Museum Presents Portrait to Sac and Fox Nation Mike James, who serves as president of the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and Jim Thorpe Museum in Oklahoma City, is pictured at left on Aug. 20 as he presented a portrait of the late Jim Thorpe to the Sac and Fox Nation. “The artist is Ray Tennyson of Oklahoma City. He painted this piece quite a few years ago, and we were able to get prints from it. This original piece was featured in the Jim Thorpe Gallery of our Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and Jim Thorpe Museum,” said James.
