CONSIDER THE FIELD THE LILIES

OF Matthew 6:28-29

Por: J. Jayabalan, India

Again, the Lord turns our eyes on nature. Regarding the primary concern for daily bread, He cites the carefree birds. Now it is about physical covering, namely clothes. The Lord turns our eyes to the lilies

When about lilies, let not our mind be wandering in a plant nursery where people care for and are worried about the growth of the plants. Jesus speaks about the lilies of the field where flowers grow by accident. They are clothed majestically. How did they get those clothes? How much should it have cost them? They obtained them without any effort on their part. They had no loom. They did not engage themselves in any spinning work. They were God’s gift to them. They are more beautiful than all the glorious clothing one can imagine. ‘Not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of those.’ Again, this picture should show us the nature of God, who cares for every single detail of our life.
