BECKETT COLLEGE OF ENGLISH Excellence in English Language Teaching The Cambridge First Certificate English is an intermediate level exam which tests English for many practical everyday purposes, including business and study. The FCE is ideal if you want to work or study abroad or to develop a career which requires language skills (e.g. business, medicine, and engineering). FCE indicates sufficient proficiency in English to be of practical use in clerical, secretarial and managerial jobs in many industries, in particular tourism, where contact with English speakers is required. Successful candidates have the ability to deal with routine letters and telephone enquiries, and to cope with some non-academic training courses and simple textbooks and articles. FCE is also useful preparation if you are working towards higher level exams, such as CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) and CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English).

FCE

The course involves practice, at the appropriate level, in writing skills, reading and listening comprehension, use of English, speaking and examination techniques. The course uses authentic texts, motivating topics, and fun communication activities. We look at past papers and work from a number of recommended books. The aim of the course is to give the student the necessary grounding to enable them to pass the exam, and also to have learned a good deal of English. As in any exam, the final outcome depends on student motivation throughout the course. A full practice Cambridge Academic English (FCE) exam is included in the course. Course Duration: 4 weeks intensive Hours: 90 hours Level: Upper Intermediate
