Welcometo Research Methods, Design, and Analysis.Youareembarking onastudythat will helpyoutothinksystematically,critically,and creativelyinPsychologyandother disciplines.Wehavetwoprimarygoals for thistext.First,wehavefocusedonwritingabookthat providesan understandingof theresearchmethodsusedtoinvestigatehumanthought andbehavior.Researchmethodstendtochangeslowly,but theydochange. Thisbookprovidescoverageof thecompleterangeof researchmethods availabletoday.Psychologytendstofavor experimental methods,sowe devotemoretimetoexperimental researchmethods.Because nonexperimental researchalsoisusedinmanyareasof psychology,we carefullycover thismethod,includinghowtowriteaproper questionnaire. Becauseof therapidgrowthof qualitativeandmixedmethodsin psychology,wecarefullycover thesemethodstocomplement themore traditional methodsandtoaddtoeachstudent’srepertoireof research skills.
