Clare Carson was very smart. She paid cold, hard cash for a large and rare car. It was a real work of art. It was painted dark blue. 3
People stared at Clare’s rare, dark blue car. “Your car is so sharp,” they said. “ It has so much charm and flair.” Dogs would bark as Clare honked her horn at them. 4
Clare adored her rare car. She hired an army to watch over it. Clare did not want any harm to come to her sharp, charming car. 5
In March, Clare wanted to take her car for a long drive. She wanted the air to blow through her hair. But she did not know how far her car would go before it fell apart. 6
“Can my car go as far as a hare can run?” asked Clare. “Can my car go as far as a cart drawn by a donkey?” 7
“Can I drive my car to the garden near town?” Clare asked. “Can I drive it to the big green barn at the corn farm? Can my car dart to the food mart? When can I start?” 8
“Can I drive it through the arch in the park? Can I drive it to the marsh? I really want to know how far I can go. 9
“Can I drive my sharp car to a party in Blarnick? Can I drive it over ice caps in the Arctic?” 10
“Can I drive my car with my arm out the window? Can I drive my car to Mars or Pluto? Can I drive my car way up to the stars?” 11
“Can I drive it over the sea where the sharks swim free?” “Oh, no, not over the sea. I have to take an ark to where sharks swim free,” said Clare. 12
