e-Qualitas: EYITT Curriculum on a Page Our curriculum is created using eleven key components, each of which fit together to provide a comprehensive introduction to the core body of knowledge, skills and behaviours that define great teaching.

Know and Understand: How to develop effective strategies for resilience and self-care. Maintain a sustainable work-life balance. How to get ready for your leading role as an Early Years Teacher.

Know and Understand: That a secure subject knowledge of the EYFS curriculum helps teachers to motivate children and teach and assess effectively. Demonstrate and understanding of the EYFS areas of learning and the curriculum in Key Stage 1 and 2.

Know and Understand: How to use research-informed approaches that illustrate the techniques in planning, sequencing, modelling, explaining, questioning and reviewing. Adapt the planning to respond to the needs of all children.

Know and Understand: •

How young children learn and how cognitive science influences teaching and learning. Communicate effectively with babies, toddlers and young children, listening and responding sensitively.

Develop a safe and stimulating environment, modelling the positive values, attitudes and behaviours expected of children. Set high expectations which inspire, stretch and challenge young children.

Know and Understand: A range of factors that affect how children learn, including those with special needs and disabilities and how best to address their needs. When a child has additional needs and how to access appropriate support, working with parents/carers and other professionals.

Know and Understand: Learn how to adapt education and care to support children at different stages of development. Lead in establishing a culture where colleagues, parents and/or carers and other professionals work collaboratively. Promote equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice. Understand the concepts of equity and equality.

Know and Understand:

Lead assessment within the EYFS framework including statutory assessment requirements. Lead and model strategies which develop and extend children’s learning and thinking. Work in partnership with parents/carers to help their children progress towards their goals.

Teacher/Leader as Professional Know and Understand: Have a clear understanding of safeguarding and statutory responsibilities. Build effective professional relationships, including with parents and carers and colleagues in early years settings. Develop reflective practice through the embedded use of professional learning conversations with your mentor, professional tutor and other colleagues.

Know and Understand: Make decisions to support pupil learning based on the best available evidence of good practice in Early Years education. Make judgements about the right approaches in Early Years settings, using research evidence to inform these decisions.
