We’re delighted that TKAT Director David Linsell joined us as the Visiting Fellow on the Elective, ‘A Champion for every child – Crossing the divide for disadvantaged pupils’ Trainees were given a presentation by David on the ACE programme and the ways in which it can be used to support relationship building in schools. Trainees were able to discuss the ways in which education research is constructed and David shared the impact evaluation report. A further drop in on December 6th was available for trainees to return and discuss ways in which they had taken forward the enquiry question that David had posed. We heard from trainees who had embarked on relationship building strategies with pupils and the positive impact this had on behaviour and engagement. Thank you to TKAT. Mulberry School have worked closely with Joanna Igoe, our Subject Lead, on organising the Science Disciplinary Days. We welcome this level of partnership working as it will hugely benefit trainees to have a science lab to work in on these training days. Thank you to Mulberry.

The Role of the ‘Home’ School Please ensure you are familiar with the responsibilities for the second school placement. It is the responsibility of the trainee's 'home' school to arrange for the trainee teacher to teach in a contrasting school for a 6-week placement in the first Spring half term. Manage the second school placement to ensure that it is a productive experience which enables the trainee teacher to broaden his or her experience. Work with the mentor at the second school to ensure they understand their role and responsibilities. Host trainee teachers from other schools on second school placements (where applicable). Provide support and training to these placement trainee teachers as for the School’s own trainees and give effective feedback and reports. e-Qualitas Partnership Agreement 2022-24 p5 The Lead Trainer will arrange for second school placements and visits for trainees from other schools, as requested and if appropriate; and manage the trainees’ experience and training to make it as productive a placement as possible. e-Qualitas Partnership Agreement 2022-24 p19 The Mentor will liaise with the second school, to ensure that this is a productive experience that enables the trainee to broaden his or her experience. e-Qualitas Partnership Agreement 2022-24 p21 The second school placement is subject to approval by eQualitas. If e-Qualitas considers the school identified for the second placement is not suitable, the School will work with eQualitas to find another, suitable school.

Working Together
Second School Placement Guidance Trainees received a copy of the Second School Guidance to support them during their placement. This is a helpful document which sets out clearly the objectives of the placement. You can access this via this link.
We would like to extend our gratitude for the time and effort in arranging the Second School Placement for your trainee(s) ahead of the Spring Term. The cohesion of schools working together to enable trainees to be on placement at the same time, is appreciated. It provides a trainee with a valuable experience for developing their practice further – so thank you for putting plans in place.
