PRESIDENT'S
VOLUNTEER
SERVICE AWARD
The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is a prestigious award, and is issued by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation on behalf of the President of the United States. The award recognizes the best in the American spirit, and encourages all Americans (and residents) to improve their communities through volunteer service, and civic participation. Education, Travel & Culture is a Certifying Organization for the President’s Volunteer award each year.
Having the PVSA award on a college application or resume can set you apart from the competition. Colleges and organizations love to see students who find a specific area of interest and give back to the community.
With ETC you can earn 25 volunteer hours per week! “ETC host families and siblings can earn the PVSA by hosting an ETC exchange student for 5 or 10 months”
The PVSA recognizes United States citizens and lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of services over a 12-month time period. Recipients earning this distinction receive a PVSA pin, a certificate of achievement signed by the President and a congratulatory letter from the President. Awards may be showcased on college applications. There are three levels based on the volunteer’s age and the number of hours earned during a one year period.
