UNIVERSITY OF EVANSVILLE ACADEMIC MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS The University of Evansville has received national recognition for its dedication to international education. 2,934 students from 49 countries and 43 states experience a distinctive curriculum built on exposure to great ideas, timeless themes, significant questions and multiple perspectives to prepare them not only for their first jobs, but for their very best jobs. Faculty members, passionate about teaching, prepare students for success in whatever directions their careers take them. Since its inception, students savor a sense of belonging on campus and appreciate the significance of their personal and professional behavior. The University of Evansville offers Academic Scholarships in a range of approximately $10,000 to $16,500 each academic year with limited substantially higher awards for outstanding academic performance. Scholarships are awarded to students who display excellent academic credentials. LEWIS AND CLARK COLLEGE NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS Lewis and Clark College is an institution with global reach. Students and faculty throughout all three of Lewis & Clark’s schools—the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Education and Counseling, and the Law School —pursue new ways of knowing by combining classic liberal learning with pioneering collaboration. Lewis & Clark College offers need-based scholarships to international students who demonstrate financial need. Approximately 45 awards are made to new international students each fall. ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS Illinois State is a public university offering outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs in more than 188 fields of study. Students and scholars from around the world study at Illinois State University, share diverse viewpoints and enrich the campus community. At Illinois State, students receive individualized attention from professors, 98 percent of whom hold the highest degrees in their field. Illinois State University offers graduate assistantships that include a monthly stipend. The amount varies depending on the number of hours required, student status, source of the funding, or nature of the assistantship assignment. To be eligible for an assistantship students must: be admitted as a degree student in a graduate academic program OR have a minimum of 120 undergraduate hours if in an integrated degree program OR be enrolled full time during the contract period and maintain good academic standing. ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY MASTER'S OF INFORMATION SCIENCES GRANT Robert Morris University is an independent, not-for-profit, multi-location institution offering associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degree programs that focus on integrating theory and applications. Robert Morris University prepares students to be practitioners in their chosen fields, socially responsible to their communities, and a foundation for their families. Robert Morris University offers a grant to international and in-state students applying for the Master's in Information Systems of $1500/per course. There are a total of 14 courses to complete the degree and the total grant equals $21,000. The grant applies with acceptance to the program - no special application is needed to apply for this grant. THE WOODROW WILSON INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR SCHOLARS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars welcomes outstanding and award winning scholars, practitioners, journalists and public intellectuals to take part in its non-partisan dialogue. Each year, the Center hosts around 160 scholars who conduct independent research on national and/or international issues addressing key public policy challenges. Through an international competition, the Center offers 9-month residential fellowships. Fellows will conduct research and write in their areas of interest, while interacting with policymakers in Washington and Wilson Center staff. The Center accepts non-advocacy, policy-relevant, fellowship proposals that address key challenges of past, present and future issues confronting the United States and the world. LOYOLA UNIVERSITY NEW ORLEANS OFFERS NEW COURSE IN URBAN GEOGRAPHY In the spring of 2012, Loyola University New Orleans offered its first course in urban geography and the geography of New Orleans through the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences. Richard Campanella, a highly-regarded environmental geographer, was brought to campus to teach the course, Urban Geography: New Orleans Case Study. The difficult urban challenges facing communities across America and in particular New Orleans require decisive leadership backed by a thorough understanding of complex issues. As the only accredited urban planning school within the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas, the Department of Planning and Urban Studies (PLUS) has been an important regional institution helping to train leaders in urban issues for over 40 years. FULBRIGHT EXCHANGE PROGRAM IN VIETNAM CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY Last week, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton celebrated the 20th anniversary of Vietnam’s Fulbright exchange program, which has involved 8,000 American and Vietnamese students, scholars, educators and businesspeople. Upon reading her remarks Walter Pincus, a former investigator for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee reminisces about his experience 42 years ago when he was sent to Vietnam to get a clear picture of the Vietnam War out to the American people.
