INTERNATIONAL COURT OF CLIMATE JUSTICE Final Thesis Project M.Architecture Course Duration Professor Location
2020-2021 1 Year Camilo García | Aula Lleó Madrid, Spain International Court of Climate Justice
For my architecture final thesis project I decided to combine several interst of my own. That is why I finally decided to make a project that would host, what I consider to be a very necessary institution, an International Climate Court of Justice. The project starts from understanding the climate emergency as a social, ethical and political problem that has local agents but has global repercussions. It is located in the city of Madrid, in one of its most famous streets, Gran Vía.
The Court intends to make a statement from its conception to its architectural materialization. The project is approached by studying the complex program it contains. Analyzing all the agents that are part of the judicial scene, as well as their dynamics, processes and circulations pertinent to each one of them. It is decided to intervene in the existing building subtracting all its content and keeping only the original facade. The building is understood in itself as a great scenography that aims to impose and raise awareness about the importance of being extremely respectful with the planet. This superposition of programs, which are placed in a terraced way, allows space for the large central room that stars in the scene. The structure that supports the court is made up of concrete pillars, square section perimeter, as well as circular section interiors that more optimally collect the loads of the slabs, which due to their geometry are built using solid slabs of reinforced concrete. Positioning itself before the climatic emergency with a communicative, political and urban character. That attends and solves local parameters such as the particular problems of each square and its surroundings, but also global aspects, such as climate justice.

OCURRE EN MEDELLIN Research Urban Project Semester Course Duration Professor Location
Fall 2019 Final Thesis Project 16 weeks Alberto Nanclares Medellín, Colombia
This work answers the question of how we can represen turban complexity, in all its magnitude, in a practical and communicative way, for its analysis and understanding. With the aim of adding new solutions to the different stories that have emerged throughout history and that respond, each in a different way, to the question of how to narrate a city. Leaning from a colection of hetereogeneous visions of the urban narrative, it is concluded that the most truthful approach to the reality of the city is one that involves showing the different everyday situations that occur in it. The chosen case study is Medellín in Colombia, this is due to the search for a city that is complex enough in its urban dynamics and rich in diversity of agents, both political, social and economic; and also, that the author of this work knew closely and exhaustively. This work proposes a new way of approaching the city and its urban space, generating a dynamic documentary archive of different everyday situations, whose main tool is augmented reality. This tool, learned by the author to carry out the work, will be explained and presented in a guide for its readers. Therefore, a research format presented starts from the observation of reality and values drawing as a precise tool for its analysis and dissertation.

TECHNICAL LANDSCAPE Urban Regeneration Semester Course Duration Professor Location
Fall 2018 Landscape Design 16 weeks Lina Maria Restrepo Medellín, Colombia
During my exchange year in Medellín, I had the opportunity to learn and enjoy a landscaping study with the expert and teacher Lina Restrepo. The project was an urban regeneration of a new neighborhood, promoted by the mayor of the city, which was under construction at the time. My proposal was to integrate the landscape and the city in the same ecosystem. The environment was marked by a steep slope and some inhabitants in a situation of social emergency. For this reason, it is proposed to generate green corridors with cycle paths, natural pools using water from existing streams and integrate old buildings with a space attached to houses to improve the bioclimatic and sustainability

RYW Hamman & Laundry Semester Course Duration Professor Location
Fall 2017 Design VI 16 weeks Aula Soto Tessaout Valley, Morocco
Ryw is the answer to a client who asked for a hammam and a laundry at Ifoulú, an Amazigh village at the High Atlas of Morocco. The proposal is based on several investigations, such as a movement analysis or a search for contemporary socialization scenes that are provided by architecture and tries to empower women in a complicated social environment. Ryw is on a river and is composed of a single piece, which is repeated many times. The contextual parameters and the tight budget were determinant to make most decisions. The project talks constantly about the relation between above and below, how the river provides what the spaces need and vice versa. Ryw is a hamman, a laundry but it is also an amusement park for the amazigh women of the Tessaout Valley.
