The Biomolecules Chemistry course introduces you to natural product biosynthetic pathways. Biosynthesis is the formation of chemical compounds by a living organism or cell. The course shows the assembly of complex polyketide, peptide, terpene and alkaloid structures. You will learn about Shikimic Acid, Saccharide Biosynthesis, Aromatic Polyketide Biosynthesis, Glycosylation and Halogenation, Terpene Biosynthesis, etc. The chemical and biochemical strategies used to elucidate natural product pathways will also be discussed in the course.
