It is presently located at Nampally, Hyderabad. The board regulates and supervises the system of Intermediate education in Andhra Pradesh State. It executes and governs various activities that include devising of courses of study, prescribing syllabus, conducting examinations, granting affiliations to colleges and, providing direction, support and leadership for all educational institutions under its jurisdiction. Honorable Minister of the State for Secondary Education acts as Chairman and Secretary to Government, Secondary Education as Vice-chairman of the board. The Secretary of I.A.S. Rank acts as the Chief Executive of the Board. The head office of the board is based in Hyderabad, which is also the capital of the state and the same time, the process are also carried out through different regional offices which are based in different part of Andhra Pradesh . The SSC board Andhra Pradesh plays the key role towards the contribution of education in different small cities and regions. The new law passed in the central government which says that all the students at the age group of 6 to 14 have right to education, which was passed by the constitution and it becomes the active responsibility of Board of Andhra Pradesh to keep this in mind while planning for the state’s education as well as deciding the syllabus for it as more and more students are expected to join schools for long term basis. Directorate of government examinations is an independent department working under ministry of secondary education, Government of Andhra Pradesh which also conducts SSC/OSCC public examination twice in a year which is the measure examination conducted by the board in which a number of students. ( approx 13.34 lakhs for annual examinations and 3.34 lakhs for advanced supplementary examinations according to the number of applying students in 2011) and also provide the examination schedule for the classes of 10th and 12th standard for the affiliated schools and colleges .
