The portrait of the society

I was born and grew up in another country.

My learning Israel started through documentary field work and shooting portraits for magazines.

It was fascinating for me to discover the new society.

Also it was very challenging to do it within tight magazine’s schedule, balancing between editorial task and story narrative - the person’s self-perception, my own vision of him as well as connection that appeared between us.

I mostly preferred shooting on location in order to let the environment to narrate about its owner.

Despite prior collecting information about person and planning the shooting, usually I didn’t really know what to expect. So I allowed the impromptu to guide me.

With setting out the frame, composition, and the light I always tried to keep metes and bounds open for the person behave and react to me and a situation spontaneously.
