Break out Lucille

The brief was to create a typographic identity for the local rock band Break out Lucille. This should then be proposed across a range of printed promotion.

Independent & unsigned with a punk influence of rebellion. To increase their exposure they needed a stronger image so bold colour and a grunge feel has been introduced that can be applied easily so a range of promotional material.

The information on the poster sits within a grid, but at an angle to suggest breaking out of conventions and what is expected, while the logo stands out boldly against the black, free from any sort of structure, almost out of control.

The further printed promotion is slightly more orderly but still plays on the same idea of breaking out of both the expected layout of information and the format itself. This design can be printed on both white or orange, and be alternated from gig to gig.

This flier design for Break out Lucille’s up-coming gig at the 360 Library club is instantly recognisable by making it black on both the front and reverse.

The packaging solution for the T-shirts are a more literal application of the concept of breaking out. Where the user has to physically exert their energy in order to break the product out.

The T-shirts are packaged inside orange and black tissue paper, then tightly wrapped in black tape, making it almost impenetrable.

I have proposed a very cheap packaging solution for the bands EP. They are so cheap infact that they can afford to have two variations, should they choose to use them both, or use on now and another for their next EP is up to them.

They can purchase these envelopes online, costing 13p each, and use stickers for the graphic.
