The Brief
Background
Create a catalogue resume for the artist and lecturer Garry Barker, in foresight of his show at the LeedsCollege of Art, Vernon Street branch, opening in September 2011.
The artist Garry Barker is hosting a show of his work in September 2011. This would involve different authors writing about his work from different viewpoints. It would include images of his work, old and new and would suggest that he has been around as an artist for quite a while.
Included in the catalogue should be information regarding the opening of an etching studio workshop and a publishing arm to support its development.
Concept/Proposition
Also he is opening an etching studio that will be devoted to working with both artists and illustrators as a facility to further the possibilities of working in traditional media within a contemporary context. There is also the intention of opening a publishing arm to support the workshop, specialising in writings/visual investigations exploring issues surrounding the fine art/illustration/comic book divides that exist.
