High-Rise Glasgow Design Innovation project
High-Rise Glasgow Hello, and thank you for taking the time to flick through this booklet. We are a team of five postgraduate design students from Glasgow School of Art. We’re interested in tall buildings and the opinions of people who regularly use, and live in them. How do you feel about these structures? We want to hear your thoughts, and hopefully this booklet will be a good way to start. If you are interested to know more about the project, there is additional information on the back of the booklet. If you have any questions, please get in touch, the more we hear from you the better! www.highriseglasgow.wordpress.com zag.gray@gmail.com
Talking Buildings If these buildings could talk, what would they be saying?
Adapted Buildings Imagine these buildings are going to be re-built, and you have control over the design. Re-draw the buildings with any additions you would make. You can add to the structures, make them smaller, make them taller, or even ignore the outlines and create something completely new.

Mapping your environment Using the stickers provided, label the following places: 1. You favourite place to relax. 2. The place you visit most. 3. A place you would recommend to a person who is new to Glasgow. 4. A place you have never been to, but would like to go to. 5. A place you would never visit.
WHO DO YOU KNOW 1 - Find and mark the approximate location of your flat. 2 - Identify the locations of other people you know in the buildings. 3 - Which neighbour would you go to if you had a problem? Mark this with a circle.
5 High Rise Rules If you could create 5 rules that everyone in this building had to obey, what would they be?

This project is being run by Glasgow School of Art and the technology company Fujitsu. We have been tasked with creating a series of proposals for how technology can be used to enhance the function of high rise structures. We are particularly interested in the lives of the people who live in these structures, the communities that form around them, and experiences that humans have with tall buildings. We want to uncover information that might otherwise go unheeded or unnoticed. The project will be documented and compiled into a book that we hope will provide a new outlook on high rise residential buildings and the opportunities that they can provide. We are constantly looking for volunteers to inform and challenge our research findings. Whether you can spare 5 mins or 5 hours, we would love to hear from you. If you are interested, please get in contact. Zag.gray@gmail.com
