Before You Begin

Read all instructions before beginning project. Do not pre-wash fabrics. Press fabrics with a dry iron on cotton setting before cutting. Use a 1/4 in (6.35 mm) seam allowance and sew fabrics with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise noted. Press seams in the direction of the arrows. wof = width of fabric

Cutting

Use a rotary cutter and ruler to cut the size and number of squares and rectangles from each fabric listed below.

Sewing

1. Place two Forest Texture strips 2 1/2 in x 23 in (6.35 cm x 58.42 cm) end to end RST. Pin and sew to make one Forest Texture strip 2 1/2 in x 45 1/2 in (6.35 cm x 115.57 cm). Repeat to make two to use as the following top and bottom borders.

2. Refer to Diagram A to sew one Forest Texture strip 2 1/2 in 33 1/2 in (6.35 cm x 85.09 cm) RST to each side of one Whitetail Country Panel 41 1/2 in x 33 1/2 in (105.41 cm x 85.09 cm). Sew one Forest Texture strip 2 1/2 in x 45 1/2 in (6.35 cm x 115.57 cm) to the top and bottom of the Whitetail Country Panel to make Unit 1 which measures 45 1/2 in x 37 1/2 in (115.57 cm x 95.25 cm).

Note: Check orientation of designs.

3. Place three Solid Black strips 1 1/2 in x 42 in (3.81 cm x 106.68 cm) end to end RST; pin and sew . From the sewn strip, cut two Solid Black strips 1 1/2 in x 47 1/2 in (3.81 cm x 120.65 cm) to use as the following top and bottom borders.

4. Refer to Diagram B to sew one Solid Black strip 1 1/2 in x 37 1/2 in (3.81cm x 95.25 cm) RST to each side of Unit 1. Refer to Diagram B to sew one Solid Black strip 1 1/2 in x 47 1/2 in (3.81 cm x 120.65 cm) RST to the top and bottom of Unit 1 to make Unit 2 which measures 47 1/2 in x 39 1/2 in (120.65 cm x 100.33 cm).

5. Place two Evening Soar strips 3 1/2 in x 27 in (8.89 cm x 68.58 cm) end to end RST. Pin and sew to make one Evening Soar strip

3 1/2 in x 53 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 135.89 cm) to use as the following top border.

6. Place two Scenic Critters strips 3 1/2 in x 27 in (8.89 cm x 68.58 cm) end to end RST. Pin and sew to make one Scenic Critters strip 3 1/2 in x 53 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 135.89 cm) to use as the following bottom border.

7. Refer to Diagram C to sew the Evening Soar strip 3 1/2 in x 39 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 100.33 cm) RST to the left side of Unit 2. Sew the Scenic Critters strip 3 1/2 in x 39 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 100.33 cm) RST to the right side of the Unit 2 strip. Sew the Evening Soar strip 3 1/2 in x 53 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 135.89 cm) to the top of Unit 2. Sew the Scenic Critters strip 3 1/2 in x 53 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 135.89 cm) to the bottom of Unit 2 to make Unit 3 which measures 53 1/2 in x 45 1/2 in (135.89 cm x 115.57 cm). Note: Check orientation of designs.

8. Place three Solid Black strips 1 1/2 in x 42 in (3.81 cm x 106.68 cm) end to end RST; pin and sew. From the sewn strip, cut two Solid Black strips 1 1/2 in x 45 1/2 in (3.81 cm x 115.57 cm) to use as the following left and right borders.

9. Place three Solid Black strips 1 1/2 in x 42 in (3.81 cm x 106.68 cm) end to end RST; pin and sew. From the sewn strip, cut two Solid Black strips 1 1/2 in x 55 1/2 in (3.81 cm x 140.97 cm) to use as the following top and bottom borders.

10. Refer to Diagram D to sew one Solid Black strip 1 1/2 in x 45 1/2 in (3.81 cm x 115.57 cm) RST to each side of Unit 3. Refer to Diagram D to sew one Solid Black strip 1 1/2 in x 55 1/2 in (3.81 cm x 140.97 cm) RST to the top and bottom of Unit 3 to make Unit 4 which measures 55 1/2 in x 47 1/2 in (140.97 cm x 120.65 cm).

11. Place two Cabin in the Woods strips 3 1/2 in x 31 in (8.89 cm x 78.74 cm)end to end RST. Pin and sew to make one Cabin in the Woods strip 3 1/2 in x 61 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 156.21 cm) to use for the following top border.

12. Place two Frolicking Deer strips 3 1/2 in x 31 in (8.89 cm x 78.74 cm) end to end RST. Pin and sew to make one Frolicking Deer strip 3 1/2 in x 61 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 156.21 cm) to use for the following bottom border.

13. Refer to Diagram E to sew one Cabin in the Woods strip 3 1/2 in x 47 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 120.65 cm) RST to the left side of Unit 4. Sew one Frolicking Deer strip 3 1/2 in x 47 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 120.65 cm) RST to the right side of Unit 4. Sew the Cabin in the Woods strip 3 1/2 in x 61 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 156.21 cm) to the top of Unit 4. Sew the Frolicking Deer strip 3 1/2 in x 61 1/2 in (8.89 cm x 156.21 cm) to the bottom of Unit 4 to make the Quilt Top. The completed Quilt Top should measure 61 1/2 in x 53 1/2 in (156.21 cm x 135.89 cm).

Note: Check orientation of designs.

14. To make the Forest Texture Backing, remove the selvages and cut two pieces 61 in x 42 in (154.94 cm x 106.68). Note: Check orientation of designs. Pin and sew the pieces RST along the long edges as shown in Diagram F. Trim the Backing to measure 69 in x 61 in (175.26 cm x 154.94 cm).

Quilt Top

15. Press the finished Quilt Top and Backing fabric. Tape the Backing wrong side up on a firm surface. Layer Batting and Quilt Top (right side up). Baste the layers together with safety pins. Quilt as desired.

16. Once the quilting is complete, square up the corners and edges, trimming excess Backing and Batting even with the Quilt Top.

17. To make the Binding, remove the selvages and sew the short ends of the Forest Texture strips 2 1/2 in x 42 in (6.35 cm x 106.68 cm) RST end to end at a 45° angle to make one continuous strip; press seams open. Press one short end 1/4 in (6.35 mm) to the wrong side. Fold in half lengthwise with wrong sides together; press. Leaving a 2 in (5.08 cm) tail on the folded end, place cut edges of folded Binding even with the edge of the Quilt and sew, mitering the corners (Dia. M). Overlap ends, trim any excess and finish sewing the Binding. Fold the Binding over to the back and hand stitch.

Finished Care Instructions

Machine wash in cold water; gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Tip: Beforedrying,checkforfabricdyesthatmayhaverun. Iffabricdyes run,rewashandrinseusingacolorcatchertoabsorbloosedye. Lay flat to dry or tumble dry low.
