Fussy cut: (9) 6-1/2” squares

BLOCK ASSEMBLY

1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of all K 3-7/8” squares.

2. Place a marked K square right sides together with (1) C 3-7/8” square. Sew 1/4” on either side of the diagonal line, then cut on drawn line to make (2) HSTs. Trim to measure 3-1/2” square. Make (20) UNIT 1

3. Lay out (4) UNIT 1 into (2) rows of (2). Sew into rows and join the rows to make BLOCK 1, measures 6-1/2” square. Make (5).

4. Lay out (2) each D and K 3-1/2” squares into (2) rows of (2). Sew into rows and join the rows to make BLOCK 2A, measures 6-1/2” square. Make (3).

5. In the same way, make (3) each BLOCK 2B, 2C and 2E and (4) each BLOCK 2D and 2F

QUILT ASSEMBLY: Refer to QUILT DIAGRAM for proper placement and rotation. Measure width and length of quilt top to ensure border cutting sizes. Below are our measurements.

6. Sew M 3” x WOF strips to opposite sides of A 34-1/2” x 42” panel and trim ends even with panel. Sew M 2-1/4” x WOF strips to the top and bottom. Trim framed panel to measure 38-1/2” x 44-1/2”.

7. Sew L 2-1/2” x (44-1/2”) strips to opposite sides of the framed panel. Sew L 2-1/2” x (42-1/2”) strips to the top and bottom to complete the quilt center.

8. Lay out blocks and squares and sew together to make the left and right pieced rows. Lay out blocks and squares and sew together to make the top and bottom pieced rows.

9. Sew left and right pieced rows to opposite sides of the quilt center. Sew top and bottom pieced rows to the top and bottom.

10. Sew K 1-1/2” x (60-1/2”) strips to opposite sides of the quilt. Sew K 1-1/2” x (56-1/2”) strips to the top and bottom to complete the quilt.

FINISHING:

Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind with K fabric.
