BLOCK DIAGRAMS

1.Lay out (2) each F and G 2” squares into a four-patch. Sew into rows and join the rows to make UNIT 1A. Make (2).

2. In the same way, make (2) UNIT 1B using E and H squares, (2) UNIT 1C using D and E squares, (2) UNIT 1D using D and G squares, and (2) UNIT 1E using C and H squares.

3. In the same way, make the indicated number of each four-patch unit using fabrics shown:

Make 8 UNIT 2A: (2) each 2” G and K squares

Make 4 UNIT 2B: (2) each 2” F and K squares

Make 8 UNIT 2C: (2) each 2” E and K squares

Make 8 UNIT 2D: (2) each 2” H and K squares

Make 8 UNIT 2E: (2) each 2” D and K squares

Make 4 UNIT 2F: (2) each 2” C and K squares

ASSEMBLY: Refer to QUILT DIAGRAM for proper placement and rotation.

4.Sew K 2” x 3-1/2” pieces to opposite sides of (1) UNIT 1A. Sew (1) each G and F 2” squares to opposite ends of (1) K 2” x 3-1/2” piece. Make (2). Sew to the top and bottom of UNIT 1A, noting orientation, to make UNIT 3A, measures 6-1/2“ square. Make (2).

5.Sew J 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” pieces to opposite sides of UNIT 3A. Sew (1) each UNIT 2A and 2B to opposite ends of (1) J 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” piece. Make (2). Sew to the top and bottom of UNIT 3A, noting orienation. to make BLOCK 1A, measures 12-1/2“ square. Make (2).

6.In the same way, make a total of (2) each of BLOCK 1B, 1C, 1D, and 1E.

7.Sew J 1-1/2” x 10-1/2” pieces to opposite sides of (1) A 10-1/2” square. Sew J 1-1/2” x 12-1/2” pieces to the top and bottom to make BLOCK 2, measures 12-1/2” square. Make (10).

8.Lay out the blocks into (5) rows of (4) each as follows:

ROW 1: BLOCK 1A - BLOCK 2 - BLOCK 1B - BLOCK 2

ROW 2: BLOCK 2 - BLOCK 1C - BLOCK 2 - BLOCK 1D

ROW 3: BLOCK 1E - BLOCK 2 - BLOCK 1E - BLOCK 2

ROW 4: BLOCK 2 - BLOCK 1D - BLOCK 2 - BLOCK 1A

ROW 5: BLOCK 1B - BLOCK 2 - BLOCK 1C - BLOCK 2

9.Sew blocks into rows and join the rows to complete the quilt center measuring 48-1/2” x 60-1/2”.

BORDER ASSEMBLY: Measure width and length of quilt top to ensure border cutting sizes. Below are our measurements. Refer to QUILT DIAGRAM for proper placement and rotation.

10.Sew (1) K 2” x (60-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt center, then sew (1) K 2” x (51-1/2”) strip to the top and bottom.

11.Sew (1) B 3-1/2” x (63-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt center, then sew (1) B 3-1/2” x (57-1/2”) strip to the top and bottom.

FINISHING:

Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind with L fabric.
