Fabric 48”x 60” 40 2½ Strips Binding….½ yd Cut From each strip Cut 2 6½”x 2½ and 6 4½”x 2½” Sew Sew 3 random 4½”x 2½” together to make 80 rail units. Sew a 6½”x 2½ across one side of each unit. Lay out 4 units into windmill blocks, choosing units that have the same or similar 6½” pieces. Sew 18 windmill blocks as shown. Make 4 half blocks using the units that are left. Assemble Lay out blocks into rows. Rows 1, 3 and 5 have 4 windmill blocks. Rows 2 and 4 have 3 windmill blocks with one half block at each end. From the various sets, sub-cut 38- 6½ squares & 40- 6⅛ squares. Draw a diagonal line across the back of all 6½ contrast squares, from upper left to lower right. Place each of these on top of a 6½ strip square. 19 of the strip squares should be horizontal, 19 vertical. Stitch ¼ away from both sides of the diagonal line. Cut on the line, and press open.
