• (1) 2 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (6) 2 ½” squares.
From the Dash Texture - Olive (Z), cut:
• (1) 2 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (6) 2 ½” squares.
From the Small Plaid - Purple (AA), cut:
• (16) 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (31) 2 ½” x 14 ½” strips.
From the Dandelion Toss - Khaki (Backing), cut:
• (2) 58” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew the strips together and trim to make the 58” x 74” back.
Sewing Instructions
1. Follow Figure 1 and sew (9) assorted 2 ½” squares together to make (1) Unit 1 block. Repeat to make (6) Unit 1 blocks total.
2. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric J strip to each side of (1) Unit 1 block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric J strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 1 block to make (1) Unit 2 block (Fig. 2). Repeat to make (6) Unit 2 blocks total.
4. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric U strip to each side of (1) Unit 3 block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric U strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 3 block to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (6) Block One squares total.
5. Repeat Steps 1-3 and use Figures 5-7 for fabric identification and location to make (6) Block Two squares.
3. Follow Figure 3 and sew (4) assorted 2 ½” squares together. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of (1) Unit 2 block. Sew (6) assorted 2 ½” squares together. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 2 block to make (1) Unit 3 block. Repeat to make (6) Unit 3 blocks total.
6. Sew (4) 2 ½” Fabric A squares and (3) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strips together end to end and alternating them to make (1) Sashing Strip (Fig. 8). Repeat to make (5) Sashing Strips total.
Quilt Top Assembly
(Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.)
7. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strip, (1) Block One square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strip, (1) Block Two square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strip, (1) Block One square and (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strip together lengthwise and in that order to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Three.
9. Sew the (5) Sashing Strips and (4) pieced rows, in numerical order, together, alternating them, to make the quilt top.
10. Layer and quilt as desired.
11. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric I strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.
8. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strip, (1) Block Two square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strip, (1) Block One square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strip, (1) Block Two square and (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric AA strip together lengthwise and in that order to make Row Two. 12. Bind as desired.
