Hajime...is the Japanese word for “beginning” and is also a command “to begin”... My first collection for Lewis and Irene is named “Hajime” from the Japanese “to begin” or “beginning”... A fresh beginning, a new start, sometimes to begin a new project is the hardest part...I made rough marks on a page, thick brushstrokes in wet paint on paper, hatched lines in pencil and running stitches on cloth...those loose lines became stylised florals, windblown reeds, clouds and interlocking cubes...all drawn in shades of indigo, blue and tan...my collection and colours are inspired by vintage mens kimono, once ubiquitous in Japan, everyday workwear made almost obsolete but re-imagined for modern sewing projects, clothing, quilting, bag making, crafts. The Water Garden By Cassandra Connolly Available July 2024
Through tangled vines and delicate flowers, gliding through the leafy bowers. Around the corner, hidden from sight, I follow the dragonfly with childish delight. Emerging briefly to alight low. Dipping beneath the evening glow. As ornamental ponds come into view, the water cooly glistens blue. Along a pathway overgrown, the way to only her is known. Soaring past where lilies sleep, eddies swirl near currents deep. Here she pauses, watching, waiting. Light moves with the water, oscillating. Heart shaped ginkgo leaves pirouette. Cascading, relaxed in etiquette. Dodging leaves in dance and play, she moves quickly from their way. Weaving through rushes, a silent game. A water spirit no one can tame. Flitting about with no respite, then racing off into the night. Leaving me tranquil and serene. To admire the water garden scene.

Norwegian Forest Dream Available September 2024
Norwegians Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrisson are highly regarded fashion designers, textile artists, YouTubers and authors. They are best known for their original, colourful and visually striking designs, as well as their knitwear and their books. Their work is highly influenced by their Scandinavian background and everyday life in rural Norway. They work under their artist name ARNE & CARLOS, established in 2001. This collection is inspired by a Norwegian forest which contains their favourite bird and different elements such as ferns, cloudberries and cloudberry flowers and pinecones. The word Inflorescence is derived from a Latin word that means ‘come into flower’ and we thought the perfect name for our collection of bright flowers with florescent neon elements.
