Piecing Instructions:

Constructing basket blocks for quilt center:

1. Draw a 45-degree line on the wrong side of (1) 3" x 3" Background square. Place square, right sides together, on (1) 3" x 3" Fabric H square. Sew 1/4" away from both sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield (2) HST units. Open and press. Align diagonal seam against 45-degree line on quilting ruler, square and trim units to measure 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" unfinished. Make a total of (8) - will use (7) in one block reserve remaining HST unit for consequent block.

Diagram 1

Use the same method to make (2) Background/ Fabric A HST units.

Diagram 2

2. Draw a 45-degree line on the wrong side of (1) 7" x 7" Background square. Place square, right sides together, on (1) 7" x 7" Fabric A square. Sew 1/4" away from both sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield (2) HST units. Open and press. Align diagonal seam against 45-degree line on quilting ruler, square and trim units to measure 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" unfinished.
