Cutting Instructions:
Please read all instructions carefully before beginning. Strips are cut across the width of fabric WOF (perpendicular to selvedges) unless otherwise stated. All seams are sewn with 1/4" seam unless otherwise stated. Label all pieces.
Fabric A:
• Cut (1) 21 1/2" x 21 1/2" square fussy cut around the large square motif
• Cut (4) 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" squares fussy cut around the small square motifs
Fabric B:
• Cut (6) 4 1/2" x WOF strips; sew together end to end and cut (2) 4 1/2" x 52 1/2" strips and (2) 4 1/2" x 60 1/2" strips
• Cut (1) strips 5 1/4" x WOF strip; cut (2) 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" squares
Fabric C, D, E, G, and H:
• Cut (1) strips 5 1/4" x WOF strip; cut (2) 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" squares
Fabric F:
• Cut (8) 2 1/4" x WOF strip; sew together end to end and set aside as the binding
Fabric I:
• Cut (1) 3 3/8" x WOF strips; cut (4) 3 3/8" x 3 3/8" squares
Fabric J:
• Cut (3) 4" x WOF strips; sew together end to end and cut (2) 4" x 21 1/2" strips and (2) 4" x 28 1/2" strips
• Cut (5) 4 1/2" x WOF strips; sew together end to end and cut (2) 4 1/2 x 44 1/2" strips and (2) 4 1/2" x 52 1/2" strips
• Cut (7) 2 1/2" x WOF strips; sew together end to end and cut (2) 2 1/2" x 60 1/2" strips and (2) 2 1/2" x 64 1/2" strips
• Cut (8) 2 1/2" x WOF; cut (8) 2 1/2" x 28 1/2" strips
• Cut (4) 2 7/8" x WOF strips; cut (48) 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" squares, (8) 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" squares sub cut on one diagonal into (16) triangles
Piecing Instructions:
1. Draw a diagonal line across each Fabric J 2 7/8" square. Place (1) Fabric B 5 1/4" square right side up (RSU). Place (2) Fabric J 2 7/8" squares right side down (RSD) in opposite corners, overlapping in the center as shown. Stitch 1/4" from either side of the line, cut apart on the drawn line. Press towards Fabric J to make (2) A Units.
2. Pin (1) Fabric J 2 7/8" in the corner of each A Unit as shown. Stitch 1/4" on either side of the drawn line. Cut apart on the line and press towards Fabric J, to make (4) Flying Geese Units. Trim to 2 1/2" x 4 1/2". Make (8) each of Fabric B, C, D, E, G, and H.

3. Sew a pair of Fabric J 2 7/8" triangles to opposite sides of a Fabric I 3 3/8" squares as shown. Press, then sew another pair to the remaining sides. Press. Trim and square to 4 1/2" x 4 1/2".
4. Sew the Flying Geese Units and B Units together as shown. Sew a Fabric J 2 1/2" x 28 1/2" strip to the top and bottom to make a border unit 8 1/2" x 28 1/2". Make (4) border units. Set 2 aside as the Side Borders, and sew a pair of Fabric A 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" squares to the ends of the remaining border units, making sure the motifs are oriented correctly, to make the Top and Bottom Borders.
