Wright began his career in the 1880s during the heyday of the Arts and Crafts movement. Its embrace of natural materials and fine handwork are reflected in Wright's highly-embellished early work, The House Beautiful. As he launched his independent career, he became the preeminent developer and practitioner of the distinctively American, Prairie Style, highlighting the simple geometric basis of nature. As Wright’s style matured, it demonstrated a broader more sweeping approach, reducing decorative design to abstracted beauty characterized by line, shape, light and space through a blend of modern and traditional materials which will eventually go on to shape Mid-Century Modern ideals. In our two introductory fabric collections we bridge his earliest undertakings with his lasting iconic style.

In 1895 Frank Lloyd Wright designed and patented a series of forty-five prisms of ribbed clear glass tiles for the Luxfer Prism Company. Typically installed in the upper registers of windows in both industrial and commercial spaces, these 4-inch square sheets of glass used refraction to illuminate deep spaces with natural light. Wright designed The Luxfer Prisms Office Building in Buffalo, New York, 1896-97, with the front and rear walls of the building made entirely of Luxfer Prisms. Wright’s many designs for Luxfer are distinguished by their geometric compositions made up of squares, circles, and ovals that are reminiscent of Friedrich Froebel’s educational gifts that Wright engaged with as a child. .

KIMBERLY is a color-loving surface pattern and stationery designer nestled in the Rocky Mountains. Wonderful childhood memories of growing up with eight siblings and hikes amidst majestic alpine views infuse the charming illustrations which make up her art. When not drawing or painting, you will find her baking artisan sourdough loaves to share with her neighbors.

Since 2009 Cloud9 Fabrics uses only 100% certified organic cotton in the manufacturing of our base cloths and eco-responsible low impact dyes for (OEKO-TEX) for the printing and dying. We work closely with mills that are committed to ethical and responsible conduct. This includes respecting the rights of all individuals, a devotion to sustained social compliance and an accountability to the environment.
We make every effort to match print colors, but we hope you’ll understand that there are color shifts that often happen when translating prints onto fabric.
Likewise, our projects have been tested and reviewed, but sometimes things slip by. If you find an error, please let us know so we can correct it.
Some of our projects may be in development at the time of this publication, but will be available when the fabric is shipped. Therefore, our estimates for fabric requirements may change.
We do our best to bring you new fabric when we promise, but all of our expected delivery dates can change for a number of reasons.
